Performix House

 A membership to this gym is as tough to snag as the workout you’re sure to get once inside. Only a handful of applicants are handed access to Performix’s amenities after a process of an online application and a phone interview with members of the team in order to keep members focused on a “performance-driven lifestyle.” A monthly fee of $900 grants exclusive rights to an array of unlimited amenities, including keys to the House, infrared cryotherapy and sauna experiences and Performix supplements. Upon acceptance into the House, one of twenty-five top trainers are assigned to help guide members to achieve their fitness goals.

Equinox

Equinox is available to high-class members almost anywhere in the city. Spread out at 36 uniquely designed New York locations, the club offers services to boost your performance to the next level. A main incentive for membership here is the unlimited access to group fitness classes, included in the monthly membership fee. While taking advantage of the top of the line fitness equipment, drop the kids off at the Kids Club for up to two hours. Aside from the fitness amenities, an Equinox membership will put you on the list for seasonal exclusive events.

Mercedes Club

A space with all natural light greets members of Mercedes Club, inspiring them to get into gear at each visit. With 75 fitness weekly fitness classes led by top instructors, there’s a place to exercise for elite members of all fitness levels. As “Manhattan’s fitness oasis,” the club also offers a full-service spa to care for members’ full wellness, including massages, facials and waxing. Modern and inviting, Mercedes Club offers several beautiful spaces inside its perimeters to both work up a sweat and relax afterwards, such as the pool and Jacuzzi, basketball court, outdoor spaces and a lounge and café.

Time Out Market: both a magazine and culinary hotspot at once

Time Out, the revolutionary media company known to compile some of the best itineraries for city exploration, has officially launched its third Time Out Market located in Dumbo (55 Water St, Brooklyn)—and it’s already a huge success after having opened barely a month ago.

Following in the footsteps of its Portugal and Miami predecessors, New York’s Time Out Market overlooks the Manhattan skyline with unbeatable views of the East River, garnering plenty of foot traffic in the popular waterfront scene near the Brooklyn Bridge.

Unlike traditional food halls, Time Out Market’s vision was designed by a magazine, rather than a business plan. Some of the most cultured veterans of New York City, a.k.a. the editors of Time Out New York, personally crafted the market’s collection of eateries by wining and dining at an unlimited number of restaurants until their palettes were fully satiated.

Their top picks were consolidated into 21 venues, each of them complementing the other in a meticulously curated mix. Between Israeli chef Meir Adoni’s Nur, authentic Japanese cuisine at Bessou, classic pancake institution Clinton St. Baking Company, and health-conscious vegan spot BKLYN Wild, the hungry New Yorker (or visitor) has a multitude of cuisines and tastes to choose from—all under one roof.

Not only does the 24,000-square-foot market house 21 vendors, it also features a demo cooking area, a video-installation wall, and three bars, with some of the finest cocktails in the game. The communal tables are equipped with leather chairs, and the food is served on real dishware with metal utensils.
