Citarella Opens in Westhampton Beach, Bringing Seafood, Prime Beef, and Hamptons Grocery Glamour to Montauk Highway
Westhampton Beach is getting a little more delicious this week. Citarella, the beloved gourmet market known for turning seafood shopping into something that feels almost suspiciously polished, is opening its newest location at 141 Montauk Highway on Thursday, April 30. The new market marks Citarella’s fourth East End location, joining East Hampton, Bridgehampton, and Southampton, and its eighth overall. For a brand that has spent more than 25 years feeding the Hamptons with pristine seafood, dry-aged beef, prepared foods, baked goods, and specialty imports, the move into Westhampton Beach feels less like a surprise and more like the answer to a very well-dressed neighborhood group chat.
The new Westhampton Beach market will feature many of the Citarella signatures that have made the brand a staple for summer hosts, weekenders, and anyone who believes dinner should not look like it came from aisle five at 9:47 p.m. Expect impeccably fresh, never-frozen seafood cut to order, including local favorites like Montauk tilefish and Citarella’s exclusive branzino imported from Tuscany. The butcher counter will also bring Prime beef, hand-cut by Citarella’s artisanal butchers and dry-aged in-house for 21 days for deeper flavor, tenderness, and the kind of richness that makes grilling season feel like a personality trait.
Beyond the seafood and steaks, the market will offer chef-prepared foods, freshly baked desserts, local and organic produce, curated specialty imports, seasonal offerings, and new creations exclusive to the Westhampton Beach location. It is very much the kind of place where you can walk in for shrimp and somehow leave with dinner for six, a pastry, imported olive oil, and a renewed belief in your own hosting abilities. Owner Joe Gurrera, a longtime fixture in the East End food scene, said customers in Westhampton Beach have been asking for a Citarella closer to home for years, adding that the brand is glad to become part of the community and share its passion for quality food.
The Westhampton Beach Citarella will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., giving locals and summer visitors plenty of time to stock up before beach days, dinner parties, and those casual Hamptons evenings that somehow still require a seafood tower. The opening also comes as Citarella continues expanding beyond its brick-and-mortar markets through national delivery at Citarella.com, where customers across the continental U.S. can order fresh seafood for overnight delivery. For Westhampton Beach, though, the good stuff is now right down the road.
