3 Ways to Celebrating Your Anniversary in Style

It doesn’t matter if this is your first, fifth or tenth anniversary together - you should be able to celebrate your time together properly. There are many ways to do this, though, and some of them are small and intimate while others are large and festive.

lights-night-alcohol-party.jpg

Choose whatever suits your personality better, and you’ll definitely look forward to your next big anniversary. Look into planning an activity to spice up your date night out. One great activity is a paint and sip session with Pinot & Picasso.

Here is a handful of great ideas on how you can do it to trigger your imagination. While some of the ideas below costs a bit more than others, you can always tweak it to work for the two of you.

#1 Plan a special picnic

As outdoorsy people, you’re going to love a romantic meal out in the open air. Pack a picnic basket fully equipped with a large blanket, some meals that are perfect for picnics, a bottle of wine or champagne, and an extra sweater for each of you in case it gets chilly.

Try to plan the picnic somewhere scenic and see if you’re able to time it for the sunset to make it even more romantic.

You might want to bring a Polaroid camera to have a couple of old-school and charming pictures to look back on where you’re all cuddled up and cosy on your picnic. If you’re particular outdoorsy, you can always make it a hike or spend the night out in a tent together.

Just remember to bring warm clothes, though, as the cold might make it less romantic and more uncomfortable during the night.

#2 Recreate your first date

This is a favourite to many people for a reason; your first date together might have been a grand meal somewhere fancy or it might have been a pack of instant noodles in your campus dorm - it doesn’t matter as long as it feels romantic to you.

Try to cook up the same meal you had on your first date, but consider making it a bit more fancy than that pack of noodles. Serve it up as a starter for jokes, for example, and dazzle him or her with a home cooked meal afterwards to show how far you’ve come.

You can always just cook his or her favourite meal as well, though, and watch your favourite movie together afterwards for an intimate evening. It doesn’t cost much either, and you’ll be able to do exactly what you enjoy: spending time together. If you’d like to add a special touch, you can find some jewelry repair services that can repair or restore any sentimental jewelry pieces on your first date. It’s a great way to celebrate your relationship and your special moments.

#3 Spend the night out

While it’s great to be home and do the things you’re used to, it’s also nice to experience something new. Treat your special someone to a night at the Mirabelle Inn, for example, to make sure you’re properly pampered and that the evening feels special. It’s the kind of stuff you’re going to remember for a while to come, and you’ll definitely look forward to your next big anniversary.

Anniversaries are a celebration of the time you’ve spent together, and how you prefer to do it is, of course, up to you. Let these tips inspire you to find the perfect date for the two of you, and consider yourself the perfect partner.

Learning About A Place Before A Visit

paul-schafer-787418-unsplash.jpg

Going on vacation is always an exciting time. Most people only get the chance to enjoy this fun once a year or so, making it a very important event for them. So much so, in fact, that it isn’t uncommon to find people booking their next trip right after they’ve gotten home from the last one, with the prospect of spending too much time at home impossible to bear. Of course, though, you can’t get ahead of yourself. Before you choose your next location, it’s critical that you do some learning about it to make sure that it is somewhere you’re going to love.

A Little Bit Of History

This work all starts with a journey into the past, with the history of a place being very important to a lot of the people who decide to visit. Most countries, cities, and towns have a unique story to tell, offering a wealth of new experiences if you decide to seek them out, and this can give your vacation a lot of substance. Monuments and historical locations can be great places to visit, with museums and other knowledge-based venues also holding a lot of weight in this area. Of course, though, it might not be as easy as you think to pick up on this information.

To begin your research, blogs will be one of the very best tools you have at your disposal. When they have been written by locals who care very much about their home, you can get a real insight into the impact which history has had on the place. Along with this, websites like Wikipedia can also provide loads of information regarding a venue’s past. This can include things in recent times, going right the way back to periods before life as you know it was walking the Earth.

Some Useful Places

Along with learning about the past, it will also be worth learning about the present, with useful places being towards the top of your list of things to research before you set off. Having a good idea of the stores, restaurants, and other local businesses you will have access to on your vacation is good information to have, making the whole trip easier, while also ensuring that you get the chance to try everything you want to. Most places will have loads of options to choose from, making it a good idea to do plenty of research to ensure that you go to the right place.

To achieve this goal, websites like Google have most of the tools you will need. By searching for the types of business you’re looking for, along with your destination’s name, you should be able to get a long list of everything which will be available. They will show you how far from your accommodation you will need to travel to get there, the budget you will need for them, and even offer reviews to make sure that you’re not walking into somewhere bad. Taking full advantage of this is always a good idea before you take off.

Finding Things To Do

Of course, for most people, having things to do each day will be one of the most important things about their trip. If you can’t find this sort of information, it will be hard to plan your time effectively, leaving you to simply stew at the hotel until it’s time to fly home. This is a shame, though, as most places have a huge amount to offer, and you should have access to them almost all year round. Taking advantage of this is much easier than a lot of people think, but only if you’re willing to do the work before you set off.

There are loads of websites around the web which are dedicated to helping tourists to find things to do when they go on a break. TripAdvisor, for example, has been heralded as the perfect way to do this by a lot of expert travellers, making it a great place to start your search. Of course, though, a lot of these attractions will be seasonal. For example, summer in Big Sky, Montana, doesn’t last for much of the year. To make sure you go at the right time, it will be worth reading a blog post or two to avoid missing out.

Exploring It For Yourself

Finally, as the last area to consider, it’s time to think about a little bit of exploration. It will be hard to know whether or not you like the look of a place before you’re able to see it properly, leaving a lot of people to simply trust their travel agents when it comes to the fun which can be had. It’s a horrible shock to find that you don’t like a place when you first arrive. If you’ve spent a lot of money, and will be there for a long time, this could be a hellish discovery, with most people having deep regrets when they experience this sort of issue.

With the help of modern technology, though, this simply doesn’t have to happen. Instead, using the help of a tool like Google Maps, you can start to get to know a place before you get there, exploring the streets and local area using its Street View functionality. As long as you have a semi-decent internet connection, this sort of tool will operation perfectly. Of course, though, it’s important to remember that these images are only updated every few years, and a place can quickly go down hill over the course of a single season.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start working harder to make the most of your next vacation. With all of the resources available to you, there really is no excuse to ignore this part of your travel plans, with a lot of people deriving a huge amount of benefits from putting effort into it. Of course, though, if you’ve already been somewhere before, you probably won’t need to go through this level of dedication.

The Diet Which Gives You More

The majority of diets focus on less rather than more. They’re about cutting back on meals, reducing the foods you eat, and even stopping food cravings. The idea being that taking control of these things means you can finally control your weight. It’s a good idea in theory, and it’s easy to see why diets operate this way. But, if you’ve been trying for a while, you already know that these cutbacks rarely work out.

The simple fact is, restricting our access to what we want often makes it more appealing than it was before. Rather than adjusting to a life of less, our desire for restricted items grows stronger than ever. So, the moment we reach our goal weight or put our diets to the side, we rush back into the arms of the foods we’ve missed most. Hence why, even if your attempts worked in the short-term, they’ll soon come undone. Many a dieter has experienced this frustration. In extreme cases, it can end with putting on more weight than you’ve lost. That’s why many people scorn the diet world as a waste of time.

brooke-lark-289769-unsplash.jpg

In truth, though, there’s nothing wasteful about wanting to eat better. When you get down to it, it seems clear that the issue is in how we go about that. The moment we talk about focusing on ‘less,’ you could say that our attempts are doomed. So, instead of restricting items, your next diet could enjoy a focus on giving more.

We know what you’re thinking, though; how can you get healthy when you give yourself more rather than less? In truth, it’s easier than you would think. What’s more, this luxurious form of dieting could see you living a healthier life than those restrictive alternatives. So, what exactly should you give yourself more of?

The right foods

There are diet plans out there which allow unlimited access to healthy foods, and they seem to see the highest levels of weight loss. They’ve realized that it isn’t our meal sizes which cause us issues. More, it’s what we eat. It’s clear to all that a small plate of fatty food is trouble. But, that doesn’t mean you have to get used to mouse size portions. Consider, instead, that you could eat a whole serving bowl of salad and still be better off. You could pile your plate full of beans and lentils, and still lose weight. Get this right, and you could find your plate fuller than it’s ever been before. How does that sound for a diet to die for?

More of what you need

It’s also worth noting that a successful diet involves health as much as it does weight loss. That’s why you could also benefit from focusing on getting more of what you need. By this, we mean more variety, which allows for more nutrition. Rather than sticking to one food group, attempt to add as much variety into each meal as you can. Make sure everything you eat is giving you plenty of protein, fiber, and calcium. Small additions like nuts on the side of your plate could work wonders here, as could the addition of beans. If you’re struggling to fit everything you need into your meals, you could even focus on getting more nutrients by turning to supplement companies like Youngevity products. Again, this involves adding to your dietary intake, rather than taking away. That’s crucial stuff given many diets leave us lacking from a nutritional standpoint. Hence why we’re so liable to give in to our food cravings the moment we can. But, more nutrients means more needs fulfilled, and less chance of slipping down the line.

Pour more water

daiga-ellaby-354481-unsplash.jpg

More often than not, water doesn’t get a look in during diets. We know to cut back on things like milk and alcohol, but most of us don’t even consider whether we should drink water or not. As a result, the majority of us don’t drink as much here as we should. In a general sense, that’s an issue due to the health implications of dehydration. For your diet’s sake, not drinking enough could also leave you at a disadvantage. The fact is, water is a fantastic appetite suppressant. As if that weren’t enough, it also helps to speed up your metabolism which will help you burn fat faster. So, rather than focusing on what you can’t have, get that tap running and make sure you keep a bottle by your side at all times!

Finding Confidence With Your Most Intimate Wardrobe

By: NYC Personal Stylist, Cassandra Sethi. Founder, Next Level Wardrobe

After working many years in the fashion industry, most recently as a Senior Buyer for Equinox, I decided to start my own business called Next Level Wardrobe. NLW is a NYC Personal Shopping service for ambitious men and women who want to look their best, no matter what situation they are walking into.

One thing that I love about my job is that I get to work one on one with my clients. I take the time to get to really know them as a person -- their lifestyle, likes, dislikes, insecurities, goals and everything in between. Most importantly, I support my clients along an image, style and confidence transformation, one that is mostly focused on exterior appearance but actually it’s about the interior transformation that they make.

@theshineproject

@theshineproject

It’s amazing what a new pair of jeans in a cool colorway or a beautiful, elegant dress can do for a person. But there is one thing that comes even before updating your wardrobe that is essential to make that interior/exterior transformation.

So what is it? Your undergarments.

Think of your undergarments as the foundation of your wardrobe, you start with those and then put on the clothing that others see. Many people forget the importance of having the right underwear or bra that is your right size, in a comfortable fabric and that you can’t feel when you have on.

For women bras are often forgotten about, but it is important to make sure that you have the right style of bra for the type of garment that you are wearing. You will want to make sure that you are comfortable in it and it is your right size. Imagine that you put on a new dress or pair of pants and then realize have the wrong undergarment on -- one that is too long or short or maybe it’s itchy -- not only will you be uncomfortable but everyone around you will know that you are uneasy. This is something that you can control very easily.

One bra that I recommend is the 8-in-1 Evolution Bra from Knix. This bra has many cool features for the women with busy lifestyles. Some features that I like include:

  • It’s reversible, many bras are not this so you actually get 2 for 1.
  • It has moveable straps so you can wear crossed or straight.
  • It is made of comfortable performance fabric that is moisture wicking, quick dry, and anti odor.

Best of all this bra is low maintenance as it is machine washable. Knix also offers a great range of sizes and you have the option to add padding if you would like.

So as the seasons change and you start to think about your fall clothing-- don’t forget about your undergarments! They are the foundation of your look.
