If you’re a busy and mobile person – for example, the kind of person who loves to travel, and who’s always hitting open road looking for the latest and greatest vistas to explore – it can be difficult to keep the various parts of your life in order, and to get the most out of your travels, without distraction and frustration setting in.
There are all sorts of things that people do to make their lives easier on the go. Sometimes, they will adopt particular minimalist travel strategies, to ensure that they just have a few items to worry about in the first place. At other times, people opt to do highly-focused travel outings, where there is only one “aim” at a time. For example – travelling to a location for a conference, or travelling to a location to see a particular shine.
Here are a few technologies that can help to make your life easier on the go.
Bluetooth technology has come very far since its inception, and there are now a wide array of Bluetooth devices out there that can be effortlessly paired with your smart phone, your tablet, or your laptop, no matter where you are, and regardless of whether or not you have an Internet connection.
There are even Bluetooth-compatible hearing aids these days, to enable their users to answer the phone more easily, or to listen to content from a computer without having to worry about a complex procedure.
Bluetooth devices often work across a variety of different tools and technologies. For that reason, a pair of Bluetooth headphones might really simplify your trip, while still enabling you to catch up on your audiobooks and albums of choice.
Tablets and smartphones can do a lot more than just stream video and audio, or allow you to stay up-to-date with your social media profiles.
During any travel outing, the ability to be organised and to stay on top of your schedule is going to matter a lot. Instead of having a dozen different pieces of paper with you, and all sorts of “mental notes,” however, why not take a tablet or smart phone loaded with the leading scheduling and task management apps?
A tool such as Todoist can help you to stay on top of things easily and effectively, and may ensure that you never miss a flight or forget to pack any important belongings again.
Books are great – and during long travels, many of us will take a lot of comfort in our reading material of choice, as a way of passing time, de-stressing, and exploring new and fascinating worlds of imagination at the same time as we are exploring them in real life.
The problem is – books take up a lot of space, and are often fiddly to use on the go. Especially if you were hoping to travel light.
An e-reader device can be a lifesaver here, by allowing you to store the equivalent of an entire library on a small and compact electronic device, designed to be held in one hand, and read on the go.
On top of this, e-readers typically have batteries that will last a week or more on a single charge. You might prefer the look, smell, and feel of a real book as a rule. But e-readers have some very specific benefits when you’re travelling.

77 Greenwich, the new residential tower designed by a “Who’s Who” of local design talent, including FXCollaborative, the architecture firm behind the new Statue of Liberty Museum, and Deborah Berke Partners, the lauded design firm that crafted the interiors at 432 Park Avenue, has officially topped out. We’ve just received a new set of photography illustrating the progress of the tower, which is bringing 90 condominium residences with show-stopping water views, prime retail space and a new public elementary school to the heart of Lower Manhattan.
Topping out at 500 feet, the 42-story building features a pleated glass curtain wall façade (which as you can see in the photos, is beginning to take shape) that provides sprawling water views from each of the homes—which begin on the 15th floor located nearly 150 feet above street level—and rises from a cast stone base that nods to its historic neighbors and location. 77 Greenwich also includes the preservation and restoration of the neighboring Robert & Anne Dickey House, a historic landmark built in 1810 that is one of the last remaining Federal-style buildings in New York City, which will be seamlessly incorporated into a new elementary school.
The building, which recently launched sales this spring, features 90 residences ranging from one to four bedrooms and a suite of amenities designed by Deborah Berke Partners. Headlined by a penthouse-level club known as Cloud Club 77, every resident is afforded a penthouse view via spaces including an art-filled lounge with a fireplace, a private dining room with catering kitchen, a children’s playroom, and a double-height fitness center programmed by celebrity personal trainer Jay Wright. The building also offers expansive outdoor space designed by Future Green Studio, which includes a 3,600-square-foot rooftop garden and a 2,350-square-foot lower floor terrace featuring pergolas and a dog run.

Last Thursday night, guests celebrated the impressive roster of all-female artists responsible for the artwork in the brand-new amenity spaces and lobby at The Pierrepont, a new luxury rental building in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. Introduced by Jonathan Rose, president of Jonathan Rose Companies, each artist spoke about their inspiration and their specific pieces in the building.
Located at 146 Pierrepont Street between Clinton and Court, the building is comprised of two 20-story towers connected by a two-story common area centered around a garden and children’s play area. Designed by Marvel Architects, the building is a modern interpretation of the historic Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, with many residences offering expansive views of Manhattan, the East River and downtown Brooklyn.
