On November 16th, 2024, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) hosted its 27th Annual Collaborating for a Cure Gala at the iconic Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Known as one of the city’s most anticipated philanthropic evenings, the gala brought together leaders in business, fashion, and entertainment to advance the fight against cancer.
The event honored Mike Rawls, CEO of Xome Holdings LLC, with the 2024 Distinguished Business Leader Award for his unwavering support of cancer research initiatives. Under the glittering chandeliers of Cipriani Wall Street, more than $3.1 million was raised to fund cutting-edge research that explores the complex relationship between aging and cancer.
Dr. Samuel Waxman, CEO and founder of SWCRF, spoke passionately about the evening’s mission, stating, "Last night’s Collaborating for a Cure Gala was a remarkable celebration of generosity and unity in the fight against cancer. The crucial funds raised will directly support our expanding international network of scientists, empowering vital research and driving us closer to eradicating cancer worldwide."
The SWCRF continues to lead groundbreaking efforts, partnering with esteemed organizations such as the Mark Foundation for Cancer Research, Israel Cancer Research Fund, and Melanoma Research Alliance to accelerate scientific discoveries.

The gala dazzled guests with a special musical performance by Tedeschi Trucks Band's “Fireside Live”, featuring legendary guitarist Warren Haynes. Adding to the excitement, the event included a thrilling live auction with once-in-a-lifetime lots, such as a four-day golf vacation in Ireland, a luxury Seaborn cruise, dinner at the iconic Rao’s Italian restaurant, and signed guitars from Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and Warren Haynes.
