Luxury Housing: What Trends for 2022?

February 22, 2022 by Jeremy Lindy

In 2021, luxury real-estate agents in America could not find time for themselves. But they certainly filled their bank accounts. With an enlarge demand and a low offer, the price of luxury housing reached new levels. This is one trend that should continue in 2022, but it will also see American buyers look for houses in other countries. Here is what to expect this year, in the world of luxury properties.

What are Owners looking for in a Luxury House in 2022?

Luxury has changed a lot throughout the last two decades. The pandemic years have also pushed it in new directions. Today, a house that isn’t filled with extra-large windows and glass doors, is simply not interesting to the upper class. People want to have the feeling of being outside, even when they are not. That is luxury to their eyes. And with such a large availability of aluminium windows and door systems, like the ones you find at https://aluprof.eu/en, it is not that difficult to create wonderfully naturally lit houses, today.

The view they give out should land on a large garden, filled with potential activities to be done outside. First, a large terrace should be found, as owners exit the indoor kitchen/dining room, as if it was a continuity of that particular room. Many of the luxury houses also feature a secondary kitchen, inside a veranda. Then, other amenities should be located on the ground, such as a pool and an outdoor living room, as well. Comfort is key, and space should not be lacking, either.

Urban Cities are at the Top of the Market

If you look at properties in Manhattan, their prices keep going up. It was announced in the Wall Street Journal, not long ago, that an apartment located at Central Park South just sold for almost $190 million. That same apartment, only three years ago, exchanged hands for the (now) low price of $93 million. It is a good example of what is going on throughout the luxury real-estate world, around the U.S. New York is privileged when it comes to high-end apartments, but the value of luxury properties is rising all over large American cities, from Los Angeles to Chicago and Miami.

  1. Buyers looking for a Home away from Home

The pandemic has played an incredible role in people’s lives. It changed the way they see it and how they want to live. That is particularly true of wealthy people, who were used to travel the world as if there were no borders. They found out that they still existed and let’s just say that they didn’t like it so much. According to Sotheby’s International Realty, 2022 will be a year where they will decide to buy houses in their favourite city, outside of America. France, the UK and Spain, will be as many different countries that should expect new American property owners, by the end of the year. This is also due to the fact that the cost of a luxury house in America is rapidly becoming prohibitive for most.
