The Newest Bourbon In Town For National Bourbon Month And Some Other's We'll Have

Hudson4Grain-18.jpg

September is national bourbon month, and no better way to celebrate than the launch of your new favorite bourbon.  Today, Hudson Whiskey, hailing from the distillery that started the New York whiskey revival, introduced its oldest release to date - Four Part Harmony, a four-grain bourbon whiskey aged a minimum of 7 years.

Just like the cultural tapestry of its eponymous state, Hudson Whiskey’s new, matured bourbon offering is a sum greater than its parts. Featuring the rich sweetness of corn, sharp peppery notes of rye, the smooth subtlety of wheat, and the light fruitiness of malted barley, the flavors work together like a jazz quartet—a perfectly harmonious combo that ends on a high note every time.

“Hudson Whiskey has been looking forward to this moment ever since our humble beginnings upstate, so we’re thrilled to unveil our oldest release to date,” says Paul Coffey, Senior Brand Manager of Hudson Whiskey. “Four Part Harmony is ready to ‘wow!’ dedicated Hudson fans and turn other whiskey drinkers’ heads with its bold, yet refined taste. This release shows Hudson Whiskey’s intent to continue pushing boundaries and paving the way within this pivotal time in the American craft whiskey movement.”

Below are some bourbons we’ll be trying, and so should you.

Fistful of Bourbon

IMG-1247.jpg

Fistful of Bourbon is a blend of five straight American bourbons – literally a fistful – that together delivers the best that bourbon has to offer. 100% straight American whiskey, Fistful was born from over 100 years of whisky making prowess from William Grant & Sons, but with a cowboy spirit and a touch of Hollywood nostalgia. The first from-the-ground-up American whiskey from the award-winning portfolio, each ‘finger’ of Fistful has a distinct flavor: balanced and sweet, green, leafy floral notes, soft spices and hints of nutmeg, buttery toffee, cinnamon and licorice.

Blanton's is the Original Single Barrel Bourbon that retains its uniqueness today by virtue of world wide critical acclaim. It has been awarded international gold medals, grand gold medals, and recommendations from noted spirits writers like Paul Pacult. The individual barrel selection process is one that involves one of the most respected Master Distillers in the bourbon industry. Elmer T. Lee introduced Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon in 1984 and since that time has been enshrined in the Master Distillers' Hall of Fame. Elmer searched the honey spots of Warehouse H to personally select those barrels destined for greatness. Unlike other brands which are restricted to certain ages, Blanton's strives for a distinctive flavor profile across an array of years.

Our Newest Obsession The Dom Pérignon Inspired Tasting Menu at Morgenstern's Ice Cream

Starting today award-winning architect and gourmand Stephanie Goto and Nicholas Morgenstern, founder and owner of NYC’s Morgenstern’s Ice Cream are debuting their collaborative elevated ice cream-infused omakase menu called Elevated Expansion, inspired by the latest release from Dom Pérignon champagne.

The omakase menu will be available once a week, by reservation only, at the Morgenstern’s Sundae Bar on 88 Houston via RESY. The à la carte pairings will be available each Tuesday from 12 PM-10 PM by reservation.

Screenshot of Images - Dropbox.jpg

Celebrating the release of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003 Plénitude 2 and National Ice Cream Day on July 18, the limited-run tasting menu is a storytelling journey, presented in three acts and titled Elevated Expansion. Presented through Goto’s distinctly Japanese lens, the progression highlights the unexpected and shared linearities between champagne and ice cream. Centered around energy, space and time the menu curates and reimagines ingredients from Stephanie’s heritage, elevating traditional dishes to their second Plénitude.

The seven-course menu pairing concept was imagined by award-winning architect, gourmand and Dom Pérignon collector Goto through her longtime friendship with chef-turned-ice-cream innovator Morgenstern, and her friendship and love of the legendary champagne house Dom Pérignon. Goto collaborated with Morgenstern to incorporate their favorite and nostalgic ingredients – tamago, soy sauce, sushi rice, and dashi – to narrate a one of a kind journey connecting America and France, East and West, high and low in an revelatory way.

“Creating this experience utilized a parallel process to how I approach architecture and the sensorial. My vision is inspired by materials, textures, forms and presenting them in a familiar yet transformed way. The story is focused on something quintessentially American - ice cream - meeting something quintessentially French - champagne – and knitted together through my lens of Japan,” said Goto.

The menu will also feature à la carte offerings of a caviar trompe l’oeil ice cream cone featuring Russian River Imperial Caviar paired with a glass Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010, a delightful ‘toro burger’ paired with a glass of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006, and a prismatic matcha and red bean sundae cube paired with Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2 Vintage 2003.
