September is national bourbon month, and no better way to celebrate than the launch of your new favorite bourbon. Today, Hudson Whiskey, hailing from the distillery that started the New York whiskey revival, introduced its oldest release to date - Four Part Harmony, a four-grain bourbon whiskey aged a minimum of 7 years.
Just like the cultural tapestry of its eponymous state, Hudson Whiskey’s new, matured bourbon offering is a sum greater than its parts. Featuring the rich sweetness of corn, sharp peppery notes of rye, the smooth subtlety of wheat, and the light fruitiness of malted barley, the flavors work together like a jazz quartet—a perfectly harmonious combo that ends on a high note every time.
“Hudson Whiskey has been looking forward to this moment ever since our humble beginnings upstate, so we’re thrilled to unveil our oldest release to date,” says Paul Coffey, Senior Brand Manager of Hudson Whiskey. “Four Part Harmony is ready to ‘wow!’ dedicated Hudson fans and turn other whiskey drinkers’ heads with its bold, yet refined taste. This release shows Hudson Whiskey’s intent to continue pushing boundaries and paving the way within this pivotal time in the American craft whiskey movement.”
Below are some bourbons we’ll be trying, and so should you.
Fistful of Bourbon is a blend of five straight American bourbons – literally a fistful – that together delivers the best that bourbon has to offer. 100% straight American whiskey, Fistful was born from over 100 years of whisky making prowess from William Grant & Sons, but with a cowboy spirit and a touch of Hollywood nostalgia. The first from-the-ground-up American whiskey from the award-winning portfolio, each ‘finger’ of Fistful has a distinct flavor: balanced and sweet, green, leafy floral notes, soft spices and hints of nutmeg, buttery toffee, cinnamon and licorice.
Gold Medal at San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017
Deep amber in color. Rich notes of dark fruit, caramel, sharp honey, chocolate and marzipan on the nose. A full-bodied mix of vanilla, dark caramel, hazelnut, apple, fruit and spices on the palate. The finish is long and creamy with lingering hints of honeyed apple.
Blanton's is the Original Single Barrel Bourbon that retains its uniqueness today by virtue of world wide critical acclaim. It has been awarded international gold medals, grand gold medals, and recommendations from noted spirits writers like Paul Pacult. The individual barrel selection process is one that involves one of the most respected Master Distillers in the bourbon industry. Elmer T. Lee introduced Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon in 1984 and since that time has been enshrined in the Master Distillers' Hall of Fame. Elmer searched the honey spots of Warehouse H to personally select those barrels destined for greatness. Unlike other brands which are restricted to certain ages, Blanton's strives for a distinctive flavor profile across an array of years.

Each month we scour the world for some new wines that' we can’t wait to share with you. From Napa to New Zealand, no wine is off-limit. Perfect for a night in, or a collectors piece for your top shelf, here are our favorite wines for September.
Storied Napa Valley winery Joseph Phelps Vineyards will be releasing their flagship 2018 Insignia red blend.
The story behind the bottle:
Insignia represents the finest winery founder Joe Phelps could make from each vintage back in 1974. Joe named the wine Insignia, a proprietary name that would give him the flexibility to make the wine out of any varietal he chose. However, throughout the years it became increasingly clear that red Bordeaux varieties – particularly Cabernet Sauvignon - were ideally suited to Napa Valley. Insignia has become a benchmark for later high-end Napa blends and is recognized as one of the world’s most iconic wines. This 2018 vintage is receiving high praise already, scoring 99 points with James Suckling and 97+ with Robert Parker.
The vintage opens with beautifully perfumed floral, dark fruit, anise and cigar box aromatics. It is a wine of depth, elegance, finesse, and the palate is fresh and focused with creamy texture and layers of blackberry, mocha, and black cherry.
Beaulieu Vineyard 2018 Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $80)
This inaugural 2018 Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with an expressively perfumed bouquet of exuberant dark-berry fruits, Black Forest cake, and crème de cassis, florals of violet and rose petal, and lifted baking spice notes from the well-integrated oak barrel character. On the palate, juicy, saturated black cherry and macerated red raspberry supported by darker hints of espresso, mocha, and bittersweet chocolate. The structured “Rutherford Dust” tannins are grippy and plush, with signature cocoa powder texture and expansive mouthfeel. Rich, with depth and balance, leading to a velvety-smooth and persistent finish.
2016 Banfi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG (SRP: $20.99)
A staple of the Banfi portfolio, the Chianti Classico Riserva is produced in the original and oldest zone for Chianti production. In addition, Banfi adheres to strict DOCG rules which govern factors such as yields, blend, aging, and bottling to ensure the highest quality standards. Made with predominantly Sangiovese and small amounts of Canaiolo Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is aged for at least two years, with a minimum of one year in Slavonian oak barrels. Prior to release, the wine spends an additional six months in bottle. The Chianti Classico Riserva is rich with deep cherry, leather, and subtle wood notes. On the palate, it offers supple tannins, bright acidity, and a lingering finish. Pair this wine with flavorful roasts, pastas, and charcuterie boards.
On September 1st, luxury champagne house Dom Pérignon released their newest Vintage 2012 for purchase.
The delicious new Vintage weathered unpredictable climate, such as heavy rainfall, hailstorms, summer heat, however, alleviated with spurts of warm and dry climate. The many seasons/climate events of 2012 resulted in unparallel diversity and richness of the fruit to create a vibrant Vintage 2012.
A perfect sip as summer is coming, the newest blanc releases notes of mingled flowers with fruit, nectareous apricot, followed by freshness of rubarb and mint with the palate focused by acidic and bitter notes, the finish brings a penetrating tautness marked by ginger, tobacco and toasted accents.
Tenuta Luce Lucente, 2018 (SRP $30): The Luce estate lies in southwest Montalcino, Italy, at one of the highest elevation points. A blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, the 2018 Lucente is bright, fresh, and aromatic. Notes of sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, lavender, and wildflowers all run through this generous, medium-bodied red. A perfect representation of the unique territory where it is produced, the wine matures for 12 months in barriques inside Tenuta Luce’s celler before bottling, adding just the right amount of power and spice to its profile.

These cocktails you won’t want to miss out on.
Read MoreStarting today award-winning architect and gourmand Stephanie Goto and Nicholas Morgenstern, founder and owner of NYC’s Morgenstern’s Ice Cream are debuting their collaborative elevated ice cream-infused omakase menu called Elevated Expansion, inspired by the latest release from Dom Pérignon champagne.
The omakase menu will be available once a week, by reservation only, at the Morgenstern’s Sundae Bar on 88 Houston via RESY. The à la carte pairings will be available each Tuesday from 12 PM-10 PM by reservation.
Celebrating the release of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2003 Plénitude 2 and National Ice Cream Day on July 18, the limited-run tasting menu is a storytelling journey, presented in three acts and titled Elevated Expansion. Presented through Goto’s distinctly Japanese lens, the progression highlights the unexpected and shared linearities between champagne and ice cream. Centered around energy, space and time the menu curates and reimagines ingredients from Stephanie’s heritage, elevating traditional dishes to their second Plénitude.
The seven-course menu pairing concept was imagined by award-winning architect, gourmand and Dom Pérignon collector Goto through her longtime friendship with chef-turned-ice-cream innovator Morgenstern, and her friendship and love of the legendary champagne house Dom Pérignon. Goto collaborated with Morgenstern to incorporate their favorite and nostalgic ingredients – tamago, soy sauce, sushi rice, and dashi – to narrate a one of a kind journey connecting America and France, East and West, high and low in an revelatory way.
“Creating this experience utilized a parallel process to how I approach architecture and the sensorial. My vision is inspired by materials, textures, forms and presenting them in a familiar yet transformed way. The story is focused on something quintessentially American - ice cream - meeting something quintessentially French - champagne – and knitted together through my lens of Japan,” said Goto.
The menu will also feature à la carte offerings of a caviar trompe l’oeil ice cream cone featuring Russian River Imperial Caviar paired with a glass Dom Pérignon Vintage 2010, a delightful ‘toro burger’ paired with a glass of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006, and a prismatic matcha and red bean sundae cube paired with Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2 Vintage 2003.

2019 Banfi La Pettegola Vermentino Toscana IGT (SRP: $19.99)
Recommendation: For seaside or beach sipping, enhanced by an ocean breeze and fresh caught seafood
La Pettegola’s translation has double meaning: it refers to coastal seabirds and is also a term for a gossiper. Delightfully fresh, La Pettegola Vermentino is the talk of the town for the quality-for-value it offers. The Vermentino grapes are sourced from around Maremma, and fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks to preserve the purity of this wine. Fruit-forward with notes of exotic fruits, a hint of spice, and touch of salinity from the proximity to the Mediterranean coast.
Luce is a singular and irresistible expression of Montalcino, a Super Tuscan with an exotic side, and above all full of pleasure. The spectacular estate’s diversity of soils, expositions and biodiversity of olive groves and forests come together in a wine as vibrant and exciting as the landscape.
The Merlot and Sangiovese grapes are harvested and fermented separately in multiple harvests, with rigorous fruit selection during picking and meticulous hand sorting. Fermentation is spontaneous with no added yeasts. Blending takes place immediately after fermentation and maceration and prior to barrel aging.Aging takes place exclusively in French oak in order to develop the wine’s potential and achieve a perfect balance of flavors while respecting and reflecting the characteristics of the vintage. Luce 2018 has a dark ruby red color. The nose is a prelude of aromas of black fruits, blackberries and violets, with marzipan and black pepper that further enrich the bouquet. In the mouth, the wine is soft and voluminous, balanced by a solid tannic structure, before closing with a persistent crisp finish.
With a distinguished and intense red ruby color, Parmoleto Riserva has an aromatic nose of red cherry, red plum, rosehip, and strawberry and a spiced taste that reminds of myrrh and amber. On the palate this dry, medium bodied sangiovese that is aged for two years in big oak barrels, has a somewhat-tart, red-fruit flavors supported by medium acidity and medium tannin. Perfect if paired with grilled meat and game.
SIMI Sonoma County 2019 Sauvignon Blanc (SRP $15) offers bright notes of lime zest, Meyer lemon, pink grapefruit, lemongrass, honeysuckle and a hint of wet stone. The 2019 vintage is also available in a mini 375ml bottle, perfect for toting to picnics, boat outings or outdoor movies.

This new prosecco offers a fresh perspective in the sparkling wine category with its crisp effervescence, coupled with a bold aesthetic and playful voice.
2016 Castello Banfi Magna Cum Laude Toscana IGT (SRP: $39.99)
Recommendation: Toast to a graduate with this aptly named wine, whether you celebrate them with a fun, casual barbecue or an intimate dinner party.
Latin for “high honors,” Castello Banfi’s Magna Cum Laude combines Montalcino’s historic Sangiovese Brunello clone with international grape varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Bottled unfiltered, this wine is full-bodied with notes of blackberries, plums, licorice, black olives, and pipe-tobacco. Its supple tannins and layered complexity makes for an ideal match for rustic bean soups such as the Tuscan classic Ribollita and grilled meats such as hangar steak.
