Rise And Shine With A Refreshing Morning Drink

Annabella Pardo

After what had felt as an eternity for some parents and guardians, many kids have finally returned to their school campus. Whether the kids have just started kindergarten or were shipped off to an out of state college from their cozy home, every parental figure deserves to sleep in a little more and wake up to a delicious and fresh breakfast cocktail.

Five Farms Irish Cream is the perfect addition to a morning cup of coffee, or hot chocolate. Five Farms is also delicious to enjoy neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of craft cocktail recipes.

This premium product is the world's first farm-to-table Irish cream liqueur. The dairy cream comes from five generational family-owned farms in County Cork, Ireland, and is blended with authentic Irish whiskey within 48 hours of collection. The richness of the dairy cream combined with 10% Irish whiskey (most brands use less than 1%) set it apart from every other Irish cream on the market.

  • Classic: reimagines Valencia orange juice at its boozy best with a simple formula and a sophisticated flavor that challenges the best mimosa.

  • Botanical Citrus: a blend of Valencia orange juice, rosemary and ginger root for an aromatic, zingy taste.

  • Spicy Citrus: a blend of Valencia orange juice with jalapeño and thai chile for a kick that will have you thinking you’re sipping straight from the spicy rim of a cocktail glass.

Matcha from Wilderness Poets features the absolute highest quality ceremonial grade Matcha from Japan. The company also offers Premium Grade Organic Matcha Green Tea made from spring-harvested leaves grown in Shizuoka, Japan. By consuming the whole powdered leaf, rather than steeping and discarding leaves, you get the highest concentration of antioxidants and nutrients available from the tea plant.

For a healthy breakfast cocktail, simply make your matcha latte as usual, then add a shot (1 oz) of rum and simple syrup for a warm and caffeine-filled comfort in a cup.

For some, when hearing "morning drinks" the first thing that pops into their mind is Fruhschoppen! It's a real German tradition where you drink beer in the morning. The usual go-to beer is a light & fruity hefeweizen wheat beer , Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen beer.

It's a refreshing & delicious combo of 50% real German hefeweizen and 50% grapefruit juice. And with a lower 2.5% ABV, Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen is the perfect morning libation. Even though we may not be in Bavaria, we think every Mom (or Dad) deserves to take part in a little Fruhschoppen once and a while.

Garnet Shandy by Julia Momosé

1 Cinnamon stick, whole

0.5 teaspoon Pink Peppercorns, whole

1 teaspoon Green Cardamom, decorticated (separated from the pod)

1 satsuma orange (or any winter citrus)

Cranberry Juice

Slice your winter citrus and add wheels to the pot and simmer for five minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey (or other preferred sweetener). Cool and keep refrigerated.

To mix:

Select your favorite tulip glass or flute. Fill most of the way with Suntory ALL-FREE, and measure 1 oz to 1.5 ounces of spiced cranberry base into the glass. Pour slowly so that it layers for a fun two-tone effect.

Nero d'Avola is a great everyday red, a full-bodied dry wine exuding fruity aromas (berries, cherries, and plum) followed by notes of pepper.

It has a good balance between the alcoholic and the acidic component, with the tannins’ impact that can sometimes be fairly intense. Nero is perfect with pasta for a late brunch or early lunch pairing.

Photo via @wineofsiciliadoc

Nero d'Avola Riserva is among the most popular options when it comes to choosing an important red. Doc Sicilia has introduced this typology in 2015, indicating a minimum of two years for the aging process.

Compared to the Nero d’Avola, the Riserva has a ruby tone that steers toward garnet color, has a more intense flavor of red fruits and has a longer lasting finish. Nero d’Avola Riserva is delicious when having a breakfast with meats and sausages.

Photo via @stemmariwine

Pairs well with first courses of baked pasta and savory cheeses. For its pleasant structure and intense aromaticity, the Stemmari Hedonis Nero d'Avola pairs ideally with typical Sicilian dishes, Spaghetti alla Norma, with eggplant, and smoked ricotta cheese.

Photo via @planetawinery

La Segreta Nero d'Avola takes its name from the woods which surround our Ulmo vineyard. This young fresh wine principally produced from Nero d’Avola grapes, flagship of Sicilian wine, gains its personality and style with the addition of some international grapes. Lovely to unwind with in the morning while overlooking your garden.

Epicentro Nero d'Avola Riserva is not just a wine, Epicentro is a story. It is the story of a territory - and even more of a land - which has been able to transform a catastrophic and devastating event such as an earthquake into a starting point for cultural, economic and productive growth.

Napa Valley Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Napa Valley Quilt is fifth-generation winemaker Joseph Wagner’s tribute to the character of Napa Valley and its rolling patchwork of vineyards. Napa Valley Quilt exemplifies the classic cult-style wine structure achievable only in the Napa Valley, while the blending of fruit from a variety of vineyards allows the wines to have more complexity and a better style consistency from vintage to vintage. The complex and bold assemblage of dark currant, blackberry, marionberry, and toasted hazelnut balance with hints of cardamom and dry dark chocolate. Pair this wine with a fattier steak like ribeye or sirloin cooked medium-rare to soften the tannins, highlight its fruity flavors, and balance out the salty fat.

Casillero del Diablo Carmenere

This medium-bodied wine showcases lovely fruit aromas and flavors of dark plums and black currant, dark chocolate with hints of spice, coffee, and toast from aging in French oak barrels. Deep purple in color, this soft textured, well-structured Carmenere culminates in a fruit focused finish and is the perfect under $15 bottle to sip and share. Named the #2 most powerful wine brand in the world four years in a row, and Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 New World Winery of the Year, Casillero del Diablo is at the forefront of the world’s attention with this South American gem, sparking a uniquely Chilean sense of adventure in every glass.

Why You Should Drink Champagne This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving isnext week and if your family is anything like ours, the whole evening is already being planned out, everyone is deciding what dishes they should bring, and what to drink. With so many different dishes being laid out, and realistically everyone eating whatever they want, what champagne will pair best with Thanksgiving dinner? Read below and check out a few of our suggestions.

Drink Champagne This Thanksgiving

Champagne of course! It is the universal favorite and a classic. Thanksgiving is a celebration and Champagne the end all be all when it comes to celebratory drinks. NASCAR drivers don’t pop bottles of Pinot Noir when they get first place, they pop Champagne. Yes that bubbly drink is the first choice of people who are enjoying life, which is why it pairs perfectly with a Thanksgiving Turkey, mashed potatoes, and any food baby you end up carrying by the end of the night. Plus just opening a bottle of Champagne has become an event of its own, fun for the full family, so long as you don’t hit anyone with the cork. If you need to know how to avoid shooting someone’s eye out this holiday season, here’s a guide to opening bottles of Champagne.

Why you should be drinking Champagne this Thanksgiving

To be technical though all those bubbles really help with pairing Champagne with foods, they help keep the palate fresh and open to the food. Its light style makes going from a mouthful of stuffing to a sweet potato casserole, to cranberry sauce more enjoyable than it already is.  If you’re already looking at Champagnes just know that Champagnes may vary in sweetness and body, but as a general rule, a dry Brut is the safest bet. It’s typically highly acidic, tart, and refreshing, which means it’s the best palate cleanser you could possibly ask for.

If you want to dress up your table, no bottle will look better than Sterling Vineyards.  Clad in silver and rose gold, theBlanc de Blancs and Sparkling Rosé from Sterling are ready to present at any seasonal soirée. Available individually for $28 at retailers nationwide, the chic twosome can also be purchased in a gift set, packaged in a sleek black linen box for $75. These bottles will dress up any table throughout the holidays

With the mad rush of menu and party planning, make things a little bit easier with advice from a Thanksgiving pro: Blake Leonard.  Blake Leonard is the daughter of Stew Leonard Jr., and the head of Wine Marketing for Stew’s Wines. While prepping: Blake suggests taking the edge off and finding yourself a little piece of heaven with Cielo Prosecco ($9.99). Cielo, which translates to heaven is Blake’s go-to drink this season. Drink on its own or pair with Aperol for a refreshing spritz.

Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé

Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé

While looking for a drink to go with dessert we recommend Closing out the evening with Moët & Chandon Nectar Impérial Rosé (SRP $50), a demi-sec champagne to play off the sweetness of an assortment of pies

If you’re willing to splurge on a really nice aged bottle of Champagne you’ll really get to enjoy the more earthy and autumnal aspects of the drink, which is pretty fitting when you consider what Thanksgiving is all about. Only warning is that if you’re the one buying, and you want to have more than one glass you should knock the first one back quickly. Once you’ve opened a bottle of Champagne you never really need to worry about not finishing it.

Chocolates and Champagne For Easter, what could be better?

Recently, Chantelle Pabros (Top Sommelier) and Jacques Torres (Top Chocolatier) sat down to hammer out their favorite Champagne Taittinger and chocolate pairings for the upcoming Easter season, because who whats better than luxury champagne and chocolate. Sorry Easter Eggs. Easter is approaching and there isn't a better sweet surprise than Champagne and chocolate.

Often times, people will go for a supple red wine when pairing, but depending on the chocolate, it can leave the wine tasting flat or even bitter on the palate. Cocoa butter is the naturally occurring fat which gives chocolate the silky texture and scrumptious melt in your mouth feel that we know and love. And Champagne is actually one of the best pairings to balance out that silky richness, especially when there is a secondary flavor (peanut butter, coconut, marshmallow, etc.) to lift the finish to a next level pairing...

With the combining Chantelle and Jacques expertise they have given us our favorite combinations to add for this years Easter Brunch.

JT Peanut Butter Marshmallow Lollipop + Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française NV ($59.99)

The high proportion of Chardonnay brings a stone fruit aroma of white peach, and a broad rich note of brioche- that combination of aromatics and acidity match the gooey layer of peanut butter that covers the fluffy marshmallow. Meanwhile, the creamy airy fluffiness of the marshmallow allows for the mousse of the Champagne to take center stage. The bubbles of the Brut La Francaise are so pronounced, you can feel them popping away on your palate! There is such a whimsical, fun familiarity about this, it is registered in everyone’s memory bank of scents and smells. Whether you know them as Peeps or chocolate covered marshmallows- I am head over heels for this pairing for Easter. Combination of peanut butter, marshmallow, and chocolate has never been more delectable!

Champagne Taittinger Cork + Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française NV ($59.99)

The butter and milk is replaced by BLF Champagne in the process of making this gem, and you taste the concentration and complexity that the Champagne adds to this divine bon bon. The milk chocolate shell can stand up to the BLF because the Champagne has the right amount of density in the mid palate and vibrant fruits that remains persistent on the palate as the chocolate melts in your mouth.

While a casserole may be nice to bring this Easter, show some class and bring decadent chocolates and a bottle of Taittinger, one offerieng that won't be forgotten. For more of Jaque Torres chocolates you can head over to MrChocolate for all of your chocolate needs.
