Top 5 most underrated cities in the UK

June 29, 2022 by Jeremy Lindy

The UK is one of the most beloved countries by tourists and it is definitely worthy of such admiration. First of all, the capital city, London, is one of the most enticing for the travellers, but also there are many smaller cities and little towns that will completely charm you and take your breath away. You will certainly find some incredible locations behind every corner, and here are some of the towns that are usually given little credit, but will surely surpass your expectations. When you are traveling to Great Britain, try to combine visiting some of the more popular places with one of the lesser-known locations.

Chester

If we are talking about the underestimated towns, the first one that comes to mind is Chester. It is located in the northwest of the country and if you hire a car, do make a point of going there. This town has amazing historic heritage since it was first established by the Romans and there are still even parts of the roman built wall surrounding the city. The look of the streets is really stunning and memorable. It has some of the iconic looks and thus will be a perfect backdrop for those willing to make some photoshoots. Moreover, you are bound to find some unique and charming coffee shops to take a breather in when you are wandering around the city.

Manchester

This city is one of the more popular places, but Manchester is still quite underestimated by tourists and thus can turn out to be a pleasant surprise. It is ideal since it has lots to offer in terms of culture, sports, and entertainment. Besides, the food and dining experiences are absolutely outworldly. Furthermore, this city has a perfect location to be the base camp for your adventures, and if you choose minibus hire, you could set out exploring with your friends or family.

Bristol

If you are into history and enjoy learning about the major events in the history of the country, Bristol is the spot to visit. You can find 9 seater minibus hire in Bristol, and set out sightseeing. You can start by visiting the harbour and it will literally take you back in time and you could dive back into the history of the country and the development of the city. Moreover, Bristol is a young town, home to many students, so it is a rather bustling city with quite exciting nightlife.  This city might surprise you in more ways than one, so when you are in the UK, try to stop by.

Swansea

Swansea is a city located by the sea and thus an amazing place to marvel at nature while still exploring and enjoying the perks of sightseeing. It is widely known for the incredible views of Swansea Bay and Gower Peninsular. You should include the visit here in your itinerary. If you find yourself in the vicinity of the bay make sure to find a 9-seater car hire and spend a day with your family near the sea. Besides, you could visit their renowned National Waterfront Museum, to learn more about the history of the city and the evolution of its industries.

Birmingham

Even though it is a multicultural hub, this city is frequently overlooked by tourists. However, if you want to see some of the best museums, galleries, and attractions in the world, then you ought to pay this city a visit. It has some of the best sightseeing and dining experiences in the country and thus it can provide lots of fun both for kids and for adults. Besides if you are a fan of the series Peaky Blinders, then Birmingham will not disappoint, as there are lots of tours organized to take you around some of the shooting locations. It can be the ideal place to travel to in its own right, but could also be visited in combination with other locations and be part of a larger tour.

Overall, Great Britain can entice you and surprise you with lots of stunning locations. It has some the idyllic-looking natural spots, but also bustling metropolitan cities that will take you into a whirlwind of adventures.
