How To Celebrate LBGT In NYC 2022

June 17, 2022 by Jeremy Lindy in The Look

Happy Pride Month! If you’re in New York City, or one the millions visiting you will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, which were the 1969 riots that kickstarted the LGBTQ rights movement.

We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the holiday and have roundup just a few of our favorite LBGTQ things going on for Pride. Use this as you’re guide on how to celebrate the community and get more involved.

While visiting the city you won’t (and it’ll be hard to) miss the NYC Pride March. The March is a celebration of our lives and our community. In 2018, we were joined by over 550 unique marching contingents, representing a vast array of non-profits, community organizations, corporate sponsors, small businesses, political candidates and activists! With over 100 floats making the trek along the route, last year's March was one of the largest and most exciting in history. The march begins at noon and starts at 26th Street & 5th Ave.

If you want to learn more about NYC LGBT historical sites, luckily for you, there are walking tours just for that. This is the first initiative to document historical and cultural sites associated with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in the five boroughs. Sites illustrate the richness of the city’s LGBT history and the community’s influence on America. Explore the map below, view our curated themes or browse an index of all of our sites.

BABE Queens of Pop Pride Drag Show

Banana Republic

With Pride Month underway and New York bustling with parades and events, we wanted to alert you of an exciting BABE Wine Pride Drag Show happening at Haswell Green’s on Monday, June 20th. Iconic fan-favorite drag queen Detox will be hosting, with performances by queens Xunami Muse, Jacklynn Hyde, Baejing and Nick Gaga.

Best of all, the theme is Queens of Pop! Detox along with her infamous style and sharp wit will host the event that features four local queens performing pop numbers and music from DJ Riobamba.

Bopping to phenomenal pop hits while watching fabulous drag queens live? Yep, that definitely calls for BABE.

Leonelli Focacceria has the most delicious and colorful way to support this June! Located in NoMad, the bakery and café from acclaimed Chef Jonathan Benno, is offering a limited-edition Rainbow Popsicle! With each purchase of this $5.50 treat, Chef Benno and his team are donating a portion of the proceeds to support NYC Pride. A portion of proceeds from Leonelli Foccacceria’s rainbow cookie will also go to the cause.

Pride Oysters to Benefit Trevor Project

Mr. Purple

Essex Pearl’s Pride Oysters that will be on their menu throughout the month of June.

They are Katama Bay Oysters (Sweet petite) topped with rainbow-colored Flying Fish Roe served with Red Chili Nuoc Cham and House Fried Shallots. Flying Fish Roe (also known as tobiko) carries a mildly-smoky flavor with a hint of saltiness and crunchy texture and “Nuoc Cham” is a classic Vietnamese dipping sauce that is often served with seafood. A percentage of the proceeds from the Pride Oysters and Essex Pearl’s signature cocktails will be going to the Trevor Project.

TailGate Brooklyn's PRIDE Party

TailGate Brooklyn is closing out PRIDE month with a bang, throwing an epic PRIDE bash Sunday 6/26. The event is part of the fan favorite Queer Garden Sunday Summer Series, and is headlined by Lumidee! Founded by @DJWhitneyDay who will be spinning live. Set to sell out, there are a limited number of VIP and general admission tickets still available! The event stars at 12PM and goes until 10PM, with lots of fun entertainment song the way including go-go dancers, giant games, food trucks, drink specials, a state of the art sound system with headlining DJ’s and more!

Burger & Lobster Pours for Pride

Burger & Lobster Flatiron and Bryant Park will be serving THREE specialty pride cocktails. $1 of each cocktail purchased throughout the duration of their run will be donated to the Hetrick Martin-Institute*, a New York City-based non-profit organization devoted to serving the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning youth between the ages of 13 and 24, and their families.

Crystal Head Vodka’s

Crystal Head Vodka is a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, committed to using its platform as a tool to educate and support, not only from Pride bottle profits, but through continuous, year-round global efforts with partners including Stonewall Sports Program, The Test Positive Awareness Network, Kaleidoscope Trust, and Lurie Children’s Hospital Transgender Youth Program, to name a few.

The limited-edition Pride bottle, which houses Crystal Head Original Vodka, is now available for pre-sale on ReserveBar in 750 mL and 1.75 L formats at an SRP of $54.99 and $99.99, respectively. It will be available in select U.S. markets, Canada and Europe.
