Ideas for a Date Night in NYC

March 20, 2023 by Jeremy Lindy

Whether you’re a well-established couple or are just starting out, New York City is the ideal setting to break out of the boring date routine. It’s time to try something new in the way of experiences. Depending on your comfort zone, that could be a new restaurant, new dish, or even a thrilling ride high up in the sky. Whatever the case, these ideas for a date night in NYC are sure to spice things up!

Meet at the Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a prime destination for any art lover, but when you’re looking for love, it’s a match made in heaven. On Fridays and Saturdays from 5 pm to 9 pm, the museum hosts Date Nights that pull out all the stops. There’s live music, drink specials, and charming light fare available to enjoy while you peruse works of art from the last 5,000 years.

Cruise into the Sunset

Take to the water to get a special perspective on the Manhattan skyline. The Classic Harbor Line can take you on a romantic evening cruise, allowing you to luxuriate together on deck. Cozy pillows and corner tables will make you feel like you’ve chartered your own private yacht. Watch the sun sink into the water while sipping a glass of champagne while admiring the most beloved NYC buildings.

Add Music Into The Mix

The Big Apple is one of the main hubs for both renowned and aspiring musical acts, making it an ideal spot for a date night out. With venues ranging from intimate jazz clubs to massive stadiums, there’s always something for every music taste. Make sure to check out these concerts in New York City and choose one that both you and your partner will enjoy. With the vast range of performances available, you’re sure to have a memorable and entertaining evening.

Make a Break for It

There’s nothing like an icebreaker when you’re first getting to know someone. Instead of the same small talk, shake things up with an escape room experience. You can perform a bank heist, break out of an ancient Egyptian tomb, or team up to save the world after a science experiment goes horribly wrong. NYC is full of puzzle games and escape rooms, making it easy to bond anywhere.

Wine and Dine

An elegant dinner always makes for a fabulous date night in NYC. If there’s one thing you can be sure of in this city, there are always plenty of places to go for a great meal. Choose something more casual, or check out the top 5 fine dining restaurants in NYC. Just make sure you get reservations first!

Surround Yourself with Nature

Start your date in the late afternoon by wandering through the New York Botanical Garden. This 50-acre forest, complete with a palace inspired by Alhambra in Spain, is the fastest way to feel like you’ve left the city without going anywhere. Wander hand-in-hand through the rose garden or steal away for a kiss amid the lush foliage.

Get the Most Epic View from Above

If you really want to impress, book a helicopter tour to fly you over the city and see NYC from a whole new perspective. Your favorite landmarks are all the more breathtaking when you catch them from a bird’s eye view. Either that or the thrill of taking to the skies will take your breath away!

Since NYC is full of surprises, these date night ideas are the ultimate way to get out on the town!
