Silk Road-Inspired Speakeasy “The Bar” Debuts at Mandarin Oriental New York

Mandarin Oriental New York has officially unveiled its newly reimagined speakeasy, The Bar, located on the hotel’s 35th floor. Once one of Manhattan’s most discreet lounges, the intimate, 45-seat space has been transformed into a Silk Road-inspired sanctuary, designed to transport guests away from the city below and into a world of discovery, storytelling, and exceptional mixology.

The Bar’s cocktail program takes a global approach, with each creation inspired by Mandarin Oriental destinations worldwide. The Imperial Jasmine channels Beijing with jasmine tea–infused baijiu topped with citrus tonic, while the Siam Sunset evokes Bangkok through coconut, pineapple rum, and pineapple-pandan foam. Serenissima nods to Venice with a sparkling mix of gin, Campari, lemon, basil, and prosecco, while Medina Mirage draws on Moroccan spices, white rum, and pomegranate to conjure the energy of Marrakech. Rounding out the menu is Manhattan Spice, a New York–inspired cocktail made with vintage 12-year rye and aromatic bitters. Alongside the cocktails, the menu features rare single malts, fine champagnes, and premium spirits, offering something for both connoisseurs and casual visitors.

The design of The Bar reflects Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage blended with maritime exploration, featuring vintage relics, rich leather upholstery, and nautical touches. The result is a curated environment of escapism — a hideaway where every detail, from cocktails to interiors, has been crafted to spark conversation and connection. For locals in the know and hotel guests alike, The Bar is set to become one of the season’s most distinctive cocktail destinations.
