Some Things You Simply Must Do in Chicago

Some Things You Simply Must Do in Chicago

March 01, 2023 by Jeremy Lindy

If you’re looking for a city with a big personality, look no further than Chicago. Known as the “Windy City,” Chicago has a reputation for being tough and gritty, but it’s also incredibly welcoming and diverse. With its towering skyscrapers, world-class museums, and incredible food scene, there’s no shortage of things to do in Chicago. Here are just a few of the things you simply must do during your visit.

Some Things You Simply Must Do in Chicago

Visit Millennium Park

Millennium Park is a must-see destination for anyone traveling to Chicago. This 25-acre park is home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the famous Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as “The Bean.” The park is also home to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, an incredible outdoor concert venue that hosts free concerts throughout the summer.

Take an Architecture Boat Tour

Chicago is renowned for its stunning architecture, and there’s no better way to experience it than by taking an architecture boat tour. These tours take you down the Chicago River, past some of the city’s most famous buildings, while knowledgeable guides provide fascinating insights into the history and design of each one.

Hit Up Famous Dave’s BBQ Joint

If you’re in Chicago and you get hungry, you are going to want to take a visit to Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que, home to the best BBQ in Chicago. You won’t be disappointed by any of his smokin’ deals when it comes to privacy or flavor.

Visit Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo is a must-visit destination for animal lovers in Chicago. This 35-acre zoo houses over 200 species of animals, including lions, tigers, bears, and primates. Visitors looking to spend more time in the area can find hotels near Lincoln Park Zoo, ranging from budget-friendly to luxury accommodations. Staying nearby will allow you to explore the zoo and surroundings quickly.

Explore Navy Pier

Located on Lake Michigan, Navy Pier is one of Chicago’s most popular tourist traps. With its Ferris wheel, carousel, and other rides, it’s a great spot for families. But there’s also plenty to do for adults, with a wide range of restaurants, shops, and bars.

See a Cubs Game at Wrigley Field

If you’re a sports fan, you can’t visit Chicago without catching a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. This iconic ballpark is one of the oldest in the country, and has been home to the Cubs since 1916. Even if you’re not a baseball fan, the atmosphere at Wrigley Field is something you won’t forget.

Try Chicago-Style Pizza

No trip to Chicago is a real trip without trying the city’s famous deep-dish pizza. Lou Malnati’s, Giordano’s, and Gino’s East are all local favorites, but there are plenty of other options to choose from.

Visit the Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the country’s premier art museums, with a collection that spans thousands of years of art history. From ancient Greek pottery to contemporary paintings, there’s something for everyone here.

Take a Walk Along the Lakefront

Chicago’s lakefront is one of the city’s most beautiful features, and there’s no better way to experience it than by taking a walk or bike ride along the lakefront trail. With its stunning views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline, it’s the perfect place to unwind and soak up some of Chicago’s natural beauty.

These are just a few of the many things to do in Chicago. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, there’s always something new to discover in this vibrant and exciting city.
