Where to Spend Labor Day Weekend Around New York City

As Summer 2026 winds down, a handful of New York City spots are keeping the season going through Labor Day weekend, from rooftop sunset parties to al fresco comedy.

In NoMad, BLACKBARN Restaurant at 19 E. 26th Street is marking Harry Styles’ Madison Square Garden residency with a themed tavern takeover, just a 10 to 15 minute walk from the venue. The restaurant’s front dining room will play Styles’ music and offer a life-sized cutout for photos, alongside limited-time specials inspired by his 2019 hit “Watermelon Sugar,” including a Watermelon Sugar Cocktail for $18 and a Compressed Watermelon and Charred Onion dish for $21 featuring farro and whipped feta.

Above the Manhattan skyline, Somewhere Nowhere at 112 W. 25th Street is hosting three days of rooftop programming. Friday, September 4 brings an afternoon by the rooftop pool followed by Sinatra Under the Stars at 8 p.m., the venue’s weekly comedy show and a late-night set from melodic house artist Autograf. On Saturday, September 5, the pool is open from noon to 8 p.m. ahead of Suave Saturdays, a Latin and melodic house sunset party, with Kasango taking over late night for a set spanning Afro-house and melodic house. The weekend closes Sunday, September 6 with an afternoon at the pool, a sunset party featuring Kasango, and a late-night Loco Carnaval dance party downstairs.

For a lower-key evening, The Stand at 116 E. 16th Street in Union Square is moving its stand-up shows outdoors every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. through Comedy on the Patio, pairing sets from New York comedians with spritzes, cocktails and a full Northern Italian taverna menu. The club has hosted performers ranging from Jim Gaffigan and Adam Sandler to Nikki Glaser and Pete Davidson. Guests looking to start the weekend early can take advantage of the venue’s weekday happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., which includes a dollar oysters, nine dollar glasses of wine, ten dollar spritzes and half-priced pizzas.
