How To Choose The Right Moving Company For Your Business Needs

October 12, 2020 by Jeremy Lindy

Are you planning to move to a new store location this year? You have probably already realized how important it is to hire a moving company, whether for business needs or moving to a new home. Choosing the right moving company starts with understanding and knowing what to look for, including what questions to ask. Remember that when you work with a mover, you’re trusting strangers with some of the most precious items in your possession and your business products.

Moving can be one stressful experience, indeed. That’s why it’s essential to have the right people around you during the whole process. In this article, you’ll learn how to select the right mover for your business needs.

1. Check The Company’s Experience

When you have decided to hire a moving company, look for experienced people who will give you quality service to ensure a stress-free move. It's a good sign to hire a moving service when it has several years of experience. For instance, if you’re moving to another city, say New York, you should check how long your prospective New York movers have been operating in that city. This fact can provide an idea of the company’s reliability.

Remember that it will be hard to tell whether a moving service company has the credentials necessary for your moving needs if it was just established yesterday. Hiring a moving company possessing at least five years of experience is a good rule of thumb. You should also find a company that offers free advice and assistance.

2. Check The Company’s Equipment

It’s also essential to make sure that the moving company has all the necessary equipment to take care of your items. It goes without saying that the company shouldn’t have any broken equipment or machinery. They must also have qualified movers so that all your possessions can be taken care of properly when you move out. You also have to check whether they are bonded and insured. Many people are being victimized by theft due to the negligence of their movers. This situation is exacerbated if there's no bond or insurance involved. Therefore, you need to keep an eye out for such matters.

If possible, it would be best to check the physical address of the company to see if it’s legitimate. Visit their facility and take a look at their equipment while you’re there. By doing so, you can avoid being duped into working with internet scammers.

3. Check The Company’s License And Insurance

You also have to check if the company is officially licensed by the local government or authority institutions of the industry. If a company isn’t licensed by such legal entities, you should do away with it immediately.

It's also essential that you're aware of the kind of insurance your prospective mover is offering for your transaction. If the moving service provider lacks the appropriate license or insurance, it's a huge risk for your belongings and business products. One way to check the company’s legitimacy is by consulting with the Better Business Bureau if you have any suspicions.

4. Check The Company’s Reputation

It's best to select a company with a good reputation as they would most likely do a better job than unknown names. To find some, you can start by asking references from people who have had good experiences with a particular company. When researching online or if you’re asking around, you can also try to contact other people who have recently moved and ask for a list of recommendations. It's always wiser to do your own research, so dive deep into your online search and try to find independent reviews about certain popular-sounding moving companies to narrow down your choices.

5. Ask For A Quote

It's always a good idea to find out how much a company charges before signing with them. You don’t want to end up paying a higher fee than you need to in the long run if you're not comfortable with the amount of money they ask you to pay upfront.

In this type of industry, know that there are companies that offer a free quote on their services. Try to ask for estimates from different moving companies to compare and contrast. While it's always tempting to go with the one that charges the lowest price, always consider the other pertinent factors mentioned above.

Final Thoughts

Now that you already know what to look for when hiring a moving service provider, you can work with the right team for your business needs peacefully. To find the right fit, you have to do a little research to find a reputable moving company that would serve your specific needs. When everything’s done right, you’ll even be able to save yourself and your business precious time and money.
