Do Your Nails At-Home With This Essential Equipment

April 23, 2021 by Jeremy Lindy

Wouldn’t it be great if you could get a full set of acrylic nails done in your living room? Well, you can. It may take some practice but you can learn to apply acrylics and start doing your nails for a fraction of the cost of going to a salon. You can easily learn to apply acrylics with just a little practice.

What Do You Need To Apply a Full Set of Acrylic Nails

  • Liquid Monomer

  • Acrylic Polymer

  • Nail File

  • Nail Tips

  • Glue

  • 4-way Buffer

  • Primer Coat

  • Dyhdrator

  • Nail Brush

  • Damper Dishes

  • Cuticle Pusher

  • Top Coat

  • Brush Cleaner

Step by Step instructions to Apply Acrylic Nails

1. Prime Nails

The first thing you will want to do is prepare your nail. Clip them so they are all even. Make sure that you take the time to push back all your cuticles. Then take your nail file and scuff the tops of all your nails so that the acrylic and nail tips will adhere better.

2. Apply Nail Tips

You will want to place the glue on the tips and not on your nails. Then apply pressure for a few moments to make sure the nail tip adheres snuggly. Clip them to the desired length once they are dry.

3. Apply Primer Coat and Dehydrator

Now you will want to apply the dehydrator to all of your nails. This will make sure to remove any moisture so that the acrylic can work properly. Next, you will place a coat of primer on every nail.

4. Acrylic Mixture

At this point, you will want to make sure that you have acrylic powder and liquid monomer in separate compartments of damper dishes. You will also want to have a damper dish with brush cleaner in it.

You will want to take your nail brush and dip the tip of it into the liquid monomer then place it immediately into the acrylic powder. You should notice a bead forming. Take that bead and place it at the base of your nail. Take the side of your brush and lightly tap the acrylic mixture. It will naturally start to spread.

If you need more acrylic mixture to finish that nail repeat the step to make more mixture after you clean the brush. Once you have more mixture lay it about halfway up the nail and continue to pat. Continue to repeat this process until all the nails have the product on them. Allow time for the acrylic to dry.

5. Shape

After the acrylic has dried completely you will want to take your nail file and shape the nails to the desired shape. After they are shaped you will want to take your 4-way buffer and use all 4 sides to prime, buff, and shine your nails. Then you will add the top coat and allow it to dry completely.

6. Polish

The final step is polishing your nails. You will want to use a base coat, 2 layers of color, and a top coat. Make sure you allow each coat to dry all the way. If you're looking to achieve salon-quality nails at home, you might want to explore Polish Pops and their innovative UV gel nail wraps. These handy wraps can help you achieve a professional manicure look right from the comfort of your home.

Now All You Need Is The Tools

The only thing standing between you and apply your acrylics is a little shopping. Time to purchase all the nail equipment you will need to start your journey to perfect nails. Remember to get everything that you need and to make sure to follow the steps above.

You can also find many video tutorials online that will also offer you step-by-step instructions if you have any questions. Be patient and take your time and you will master doing your acrylics in no time.
