Ruinart Champagne x Vik Muniz x Chef Boulud Art Basel Fête

Art and fashion patrons from around the world including Karolina Kurkova, Joan Smalls, Peter Marino, Caroline Vreeland, Pepe Mar, Gaia Matisse, Shea Marie, Hank Willis Thomas, DJ Timo Weiland, Marion Guggenheim, Aureta Thomollari, Jenny Lopez, Olivia Perez and more joined Ruinart Champagne, the first established Champagne House, and artist Vik Muniz for a special event with Chef Daniel Boulud to raise money for the Amazon Rainforest.

Muniz’s artwork series, Shared Roots, was the inspiration behind the evening, which fused art and gastronomy while officially launching the Vik Muniz x Ruinart Champagne Leaf limited-edition print, in which 100% of the proceeds benefit Imazon, a Brazilian nonprofit dedicated to Amazon rainforest conservation. With only 30 available worldwide, the numbered, limited-edition numbered prints can be purchased for $5,000 on Clos19.com.

BACARDÍ and Swizz Beatz Bring Rum Room Event Series to Miami Art Week

To close out Miami Art Week, BACARDÍ made its return to the 305 to hold Rum Room: Miami – the third iteration of five national events curated by the BACARDÍ Rum Society, an exclusive group of distinguished celebrity rum enthusiasts and ambassadors. Grammy Award-winning producer and longtime brand collaborator Swizz Beatz helped BACARDÍ conceptualize and bring the Rum Room to life, and further educate consumers on the versatility of rum. The iconic rum brand took over Faena Forum in Miami Beach for the second year in a row – transforming it into a premium rum oasis, with dedicated rooms championing each of the aged rum expressions, comprised of BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro, BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho and BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Diez.

Serving as a living, breathing world of rum, the BACARDÍ Rum Room created an evening of excitement and discovery that showcased the brand’s culture, diverse flavor profile and set the rum standard. As guests entered the space, they were whisked on a journey of rum exploration and guided from the downstairs Diez speakeasy, where guests were treated to an intimate Diez tasting experience in the Atrium of Faena Forum to the upstairs Ocho and Cuatro rooms featuring an array of cocktails and interactive rum components. For the first time ever – guests during the preview hour were treated to a tasting of the new BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Especial, aged 16 years under the Caribbean sun, and available exclusively at global travel retail.

Hebru x Billionaire Boys Club x Adidas Originals Collaboration at Art Basel Miami

A fashionable crowd gathered with hosts Pharrell Williams and Hebru Brantley to celebrate the launch of the Hebru Brantley x Billionaire Boys Club x Adidas Originals collection. Guests sipped on artfully crafted Bombay Sapphire cocktails while viewing the new limited-edition shoe collection at the BBC ICECREAM Miami Pop-up during Art Basel Miami 2019, “the perfect place to drop these bold, artistic designs”, said cult artist and Bombay Sapphire partner Hebru Brantley. 

In celebration of the art fair and cult collaboration, guests mingled to the beats of DJ Jay Illa, with notables including Pharrell Williams, Hebru Brantley, Pusha T, Teyana Taylor, and PnB Rock. The crowd enjoyed the event’s signature, art-inspired cocktails, including the Flyberry Tea Punch, Bombay Lemonade, Citrus Smile Spritz, and the Painted Bombay and Tonic

VIP attended Sir Henri for a winter escape as they enjoyed festive cocktails and light bites. Located high atop Hotel Henri in the Flatiron District, Sir Henri pays homage to the speakeasies of yesteryear in a gorgeous setting made for today. Guests were greeted with Moet & Chandon champagne and then got the opportunity to sample signature cocktails like the Margaretha Franklin, Gin Martin and Nina Cinnamon Old Fashion complemented by shrimp tacos, chicken wings, sliders and a trio of dips with warm pita bread. The penthouse rooftop is open year round beginning at 5pm for hotel guests, locals and visitors from around the world.

Peter Gelb of the Metropolitan Opera was honored at the National Institute of Social Science's 105th Gold Medal Dinner on Thursday, December 5 at The Metropolitan Club. Angel Blue of Porgy and Bess and Anthony Roth Costanzo of Philip Glass's Akhnaten also attended. Paul Edward Farmer was honored.

Santa's Big Helper WTF Waffle & The Holiday Cubano Are Featured Menu Items at Clinton Hall This Month

Executive Chef Darryl Harmon, Santa's Big Helper WTF Waffle was just featured on The Cooking Channel's show, Christmas Chowdown. Friends of the chef attended Clitnon Hall to watch the dessert get it’s grand debut and even had some bites itself. Patrons were seen trying specialty cocktails and playing classing games at the festive bar & restaurant.

American Hospital of Paris Foundation Awards Gala

The American Hospital of Paris Foundation held a festive Gala at the Metropolitan Club in New York City benefiting the Hospital. The Gala honored Mr. Michel David-Weill, longtime supporter and Board member of the organization for his pivotal role in creating lasting relationships among American and French counterparts.

200 guests hailing from Houston, Palm Beach, New York and Paris enjoyed a lively cocktail hour followed by dinner, an award presentation and remarks, a performance by a violinist and a silent auction of luxury items. Dinner Chairman Donna Chapman led the Foundation’s Gala with Co-Chair Kitty Resor benefiting the American Hospital of Paris. The Hospital is a unique institution in France that has, for over a century, been the meeting ground for the shared collaboration of French and U.S. medical exchange, science and excellence.

Athenians Performance at Alice Kandell's Penthouse

The Athenians captivated over 60 guests at Alice Kandell’s Upper East Side penthouse with a performance in celebration of her birthday. From her Steinway grand piano Athenian’s director Dr. Michael Fennelly, led 19 soloists (including the soprano and co-director of the Athenians, Megan Weston) in renditions of great opera arias. Superb singing came as a surprise from every entrance to the large living room with the singers mixing freely among the delighted guests.

Guests included Stephen Fang, Silvia Frieser (director of the NY Viennese Opera Ball), Fred Karger, Kathy Roeder, Dame Jillian Sackler, and Charles Sullivan.

Inside The Kamen Brain Tumor Gala

200 donors joined Dr. Mazen Kamen to hear of advancements in pediatric brain tumor research. "Brain cancer has surpassed leukemia as the number one cause of cancer deaths among children”, shared Dr. Kamen, “It’s a devastating disease that affects both children and adults across racial and socioeconomic divides. More than 28,000 children are living with a brain tumor in the United States and an estimated 4,000 new cases of childhood brain tumors are expected to be diagnosed this year. "

The evening's host, CNBC senior editor Barbara Booth, greeted guests saying, "It's a very special night and I'm beyond honored to be here. As an investigative reporter for CNBC I have been reporting on cutting edge treatments for illnesses and injuries along with meeting the amazing doctors behind these revolutionary breakthroughs. Every one of you in this room brings this foundation to life and I thank you for that." CNBC's Sharon Epperson added, "Right now for children ages 0 to 14, glioma central nervous system tumors are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, discovering new treatments for these tumors will take much funding and research. It's going to take a village for this, and we have one right here. I applaud this Foundation and all of you here tonight for making this important commitment to find a cure." Keynote speaker Dr. Herbert Pardes reinforced the need for research, "We’re seeking a quality survival. A cure, of course, it's what we want.  Research funded by this foundation is helping us slowly move in that direction."

Kick Off Celebration Of The 65th Viennese Opera Ball

The Viennese Opera Ball announced their upcoming gala at the Upper East Side residence of Sabine Riglos, a board member. “The Viennese Opera Ball is one of the highlights of the annual charity season for Austrian Americans, with performances by extraordinary opera singers and musicans” explained artistic director Daniel Serafin as he introduced mezzo soprano Nicole Piccolomini, who sing “L'amour est un oiseau rebelle” from Carmen. " Juilliard violinist Anastasiia Mazurok also performed a solo by Bach.

According to Page 6 Jamie Foxx was seen partying till 5 A.M. at Brooklyn Chop House, where “he stayed till 5 a.m. and left a $2,000 tip.” Restaurateur Stratis Morfogen and owner of Brooklyn Chop House recently appeared on Million Dollar Listings New York where he worked with agent Steve Gold.

Thursday night French Heritage Society honoredr Geoffrey Bradfield and Margaret and Gregory Hedberg at their annual New York Gala - The Black & White Ball - on Thursday, November 21st at a private club in Manhattan. Gala Chairmen are Cece Black, Jean Doyen de Montaillou, Michael A. Kovner, Jay R. Paul, Jean Shafiroff, and Ann Van Ness. French Heritage Society is dedicated to protecting the French architectural legacy both in France and the United States with particular emphasis on preservation and education.

To avoid cabin fever, here’s a list of some cool indoor activities you and your friends or you and your family can all enjoy while still staying warm.

Haven Ski Chalet by Will Cadena

The Clicquot Chalet at Mr. Purple is back for the winter season! Launching November 22nd, Mr. Purple atop Hotel Indigo Lower East Side will be transformed into a funky après-ski lodge in the sky. Step outside onto the terrace and guests will find a larger-than-life snow globe dome decked-out in Veuve Clicquot themed ski lodge decor, complete with its very own champagne bar. Once inside, visitors can enjoy a warm retreat from the elements while indulging in a number of festive cocktails on the specialty pop-up menu, including seasonal hot sips and exclusive Veuve Clicquot champagne cocktails, plus plenty of chocolate and cheese fondue to warm your soul - all while taking in the rooftop’s stunning views of NYC.

The Clicquot Chalet holds approximately 25-50 people so reservations (with a table minimum) are highly encouraged via Mr. Purple’s website. Walk-ins will be accepted based on availability.

Grand Holiday Bazaar 

On Sundays between November 24th and December 22nd, Grand Holiday Bazaar will host nearly 200 independent vendors selling goods and giftables that can't be found elsewhere, making it the perfect spot to find the otherwise unfindable. All of the vendors are small independent business owners and artisans, making each item one-of-a-kind or limited edition. Grand Holiday Bazaar is the only indoor and outdoor holiday market in NYC, and visitors can feel good knowing that 100% of the proceeds from booth rentals go to aide thousands of local public school children in the area.

Celebrate Christmas at The Milleridge Inn

The Milleridge Inn lavishly decks their 12 acre property in holiday themed decor with as many wreaths and poinsettias you can imagine in addition to custom-made, light-up figurines. The magic of their 25 Days of Christmas Village begins on Friday, November 29th with their annual tree lighting from 6pm - 8pm. The Springs in Greenpoint turns into HoHo Holiday Lounge

The Springs in Greenpoint, Brooklyn transforms into the HoHo Holiday Lounge from December 4th - January 1st and will be open Mon-Thurs: 4pm-2am, Friday: 2pm-2am

and Sat and Sun: Noon-2am. This pop up lounge is sure to get you in the holiday spirit with colorful decorations, cozy fireplaces, and festive cocktails + slushies. The outdoor area will be a Santa Land with a magical sled available every day for free photos and Instagram pics! Santa is visiting on December 5th from 5pm-8pm, so bring the entire family! Of course, Greg Walsh will also bring his complete line of holiday products including the largest variety of Christmas trees in NYC with Fraser Fir, Noble Fir, Nordmann Fir, Balsam Fir and the exquisite new Silver Fir.

A Winter Utopia Found at Haven Ski Chalet

During the holidays Haven Rooftop above The Sanctuary Hotel  transforms into Haven Ski Chalet, a winter utopia. Holiday decor features white lights, and even a faux snow machine that gives all the joy of snow but none of the frost. Enjoy seasonal drinks like including the Toasted Almond, Peppermint Cream, Ginger Toddy and Shot Skis served by waitresses dressed as ski bunnies.

Pink Holiday Pop-up at Moxy Times Square

Venture to the atrium on the 2nd floor of Moxy Times Square to experience an all-pink reimagined futuristic set-up wrapped in metallic ornaments. You’ll be able to sip on a bright, boozy Pink Velvet Hot Chocolate while creating your very own holiday postcard photo behind a giant neon frame.

At the same time, Magic Hour, the largest hotel rooftop in Manhattan, will be transformed into a magical ‘Pink Holiday Playground’ with ceilings covered in hot pink twinkle lights, oversized rotating mirror balls, human-size festive bears all anchored by the central carousel. New boozy holiday food and drink offerings include a pink “dough-pie”, a Cherry Snow Globe, and Disco Ball Sangria Punch!

Festive programming will also include a caroling flash performance, a winter scents candle making workshop with Brooklyn Craft Company, Kendra Scott jewelry bar and pink holiday nail art and meditation with Sundays.

Pink Holiday with Putnam & Putnam at Moxy Chelsea

In celebration of the holidays, celebrity-favorite florists Putnam & Putnam will be transforming their entryway shop at Moxy Chelsea into a full floral installation inspired by Moxy’s Pink Holiday! Upon entering the hotel, you will be immediately greeted by an oversized installation of cascading pink holiday florals providing a perfectly pink botanical photo opp for the ‘gram. After making your way through, stay warm with a Pink Velvet Hot Chocolate made with Godiva White Chocolate, Vanilla vodka and edible pink glitter at Bar Feroce. 

Pink Winter Wonderland at Moxy East Village 

The newest of the three Moxy hotels will be transforming the Alphabet Bar Terrace into a pink winter wonderland. The enclosed backyard space will feature over-the-top fuzzy pink throws, plush seating and Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas trees. A Pama Pointsetta pink cocktail featuring Viva Joven tequila will be on the menu for guests to enjoy while they get into the pink holiday spirit.

The iconic Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Monday, November 4, 2019 at New York University’s Rosenthal Pavilion in New York City, raising vital funds for The Lee Strasberg Creative Center, which has provided scholarships to students for 42 years. Last week Elad Group hosted real estate icons from Douglas Elliman – Susan De Franca, John Gomes, Noble Black, Ariel Cohen, Glenn Davis, Eleonora Srugo, Andrew Wachtfogel, and Julia Spillman for a round table panel discussion in One West End’s duplex unit, 29B, with more than 120 of the city’s top brokers and marketing professionals in attendance.

The discussion focused on what it takes to sell in a challenging market – covering topics such as the success of sales closer to completion, the need to understand the value of a property, and the importance of understanding your buyer and what they are looking for.

During the talk, De Franca noted that 20 years ago it was all about selling a dream and because there wasn’t much inventory, selling the dream was a relatively easy task; however, in today’s market even though you can still sell a dream, the reality is that buyers cannot deny a finished product.

Gomes commented the importance of understanding the different segments within the market – for example many buyers under the $4M mark are investors and are not the end-user therefore, don’t have a strong personal connection to the product and might feel more comfortable purchasing farther out from completion, whereas the more one spends, the greater the personal connection, the more risk they are enduring and therefore want to see more done in terms of completion.

Black discussed that the sales process is all about pricing and the product and emphasized that if one is trying to sell a product through renderings, the dream has to live up to the end product.

RXR Realty Celebrated the Grand Opening of 475 Clermont

Last week RXR Realty, celebrated the grand opening of their newest luxury residential development, 475 Clermont. Located at the intersection of Brooklyn’s burgeoning Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhoods, the grand opening marks the completion of 363 luxury residences and a suite of unparalleled lifestyle amenities.

Residents can choose from a variety of studios to two-bedroom layouts, some featuring private outdoor space.

Inside Ryan Serhant's Million Dollar Listings New York Finale Party

Last night Ryan Serhant got in the Halloween mood to celebrate the finale of season 8 of Million Dollar Listings New York, set to air October 31st. Held at the Bowery Hotel in the Lower East Side, brokers dressed up in their Halloween costumes to celebrate with the Serhant team.

Dressed as Superman or perhaps a Super Broker, Serhant greeted guests as they indulged in desserts and flowing cocktails. To go with the Halloween theme, Smirnoff had their own special bar seen with a Mad Scientist as the bartender

MAD Celebrates the upcoming New York Landmarks Conservancy's annual Living Landmarks

Everyone was at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) to celebrate the upcoming New York Landmarks Conservancy's annual Living Landmarks which include longtime MAD supports Barbara and Donald Tober. Joining them were fellow honorees Carole Bailey French, H. Carl McCall, and Emily K. Rafferty.

"I would like to take this moment to extend out from the MAD family a special congratulations to our own Barbara Tober and her wonderful, elegant, charming husband, Donald," said Michele Cohen, the Museum's board chair. "She has helped define MAD's cultural legacy, providing a platform for national and international contemporary makers." Chris Scoates, MAD's Nanette L. Laitman Director, said, "Barbara and Donald Tober are a force of nature." Peg Breen, President of Landmarks Conservancy, added, "We spend our time trying to save the rich layers of architecture that New York has. But Living Landmarks are distinguishing New Yorkers who help preserve the city in their own special way. We have another terrific group this year and we're delighted that so many of them could be with us this evening. You've heard so much about Barbara and Donald. Donald is on our board, too. He really is a tourist in his own town, and I really admire that."

"I'm so happy, we're so happy to be a part of this group," said Barbara Tober, MAD's Chairman Emerita.  "To make a difference, to get up in the morning and have something to propel you to go out and get it done - and keep smiling! Everyone of you that I know in this room have done something fabulous, are doing something fabulous, are busy making this city better."
