Holiday Under the Stars Returns to Columbus Circle in Spectacular Fashion
Every year, The Shops at Columbus Circle transforms into a sparkling symbol of the holiday season, and this year’s Holiday Under the Stars promises its most dazzling display yet. Beginning November 10, visitors can experience the city’s largest indoor light show — a choreographed spectacle of 44 illuminated stars and 300,000 twinkling lights, dancing to music every half hour in the Great Room. The beloved installation, visible from Central Park South and the Time Warner Center atrium, has become a quintessential New York tradition — one that turns an ordinary evening of shopping or dining into a cinematic holiday moment.
But the lights are only the beginning. Throughout November and December, The Shops at Columbus Circle will host a full lineup of festive programs, including Broadway Under the Stars, a free Thursday-night series of live performances featuring casts from Moulin Rouge!, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, and The Book of Mormon. Guests can find the full performance schedule and details here, making it easier than ever to plan the perfect evening of lights, music, and holiday cheer.
For adults looking for something a bit more spirited, the new Santa’s Secret experience from Voss Events adds an after-dark twist to the festivities — an immersive, speakeasy-style holiday show complete with cocktails, aerial performances, and a hidden bar tucked inside the shopping complex. Families, meanwhile, can step into a North Pole adventure at Passport to Santa, an interactive holiday installation designed to delight visitors of all ages.
And of course, no trip to Columbus Circle is complete without a little gift hunting. With The Shops’ curated holiday gift guide and an array of luxury retailers and dining destinations — from Per Se and Masa to boutique finds and seasonal pop-ups — it’s the perfect place to discover something special for everyone on your list. Whether you’re catching a show, crafting a keepsake, or simply standing beneath those glowing stars, Columbus Circle once again proves it’s where New York’s holiday magic truly shines.
