By late August, the Hamptons social calendar tends to favor one last long lunch with a reason to linger, and this one came with a purpose. Project Zero gathered ocean advocates, artists, and a decidedly well-connected crowd at Maison Close Southampton on Saturday, August 22, for its fourth annual Celebration for Coral. The seated brunch benefited the organization’s Coral Collective, with all ticket proceeds supporting coral reef restoration and marine conservation, giving the afternoon the rare combination of Southampton polish and something genuinely worth raising a glass to.

The afternoon was hosted by Project Zero ambassadors Alexandra Richards, Christie Brinkley, Sailor Brinkley Cook, Georgia Cohen, and Kelly Brady, with remarks from the organization’s new CEO, Angeline Chen, on the urgency of protecting marine ecosystems. Chen highlighted Project Zero’s 30 Reefs Initiative, which aims to accelerate coral reef restoration efforts worldwide, with its next project set for Turks and Caicos. Guests including singer-songwriter Alexa Ray Joel, entrepreneur Ryan Gleason, WWD Editorial Director Michael Atmore, and writer Sophie Curtis were treated to an unexpected burlesque performance that turned the fundraiser into one of the season’s most memorable Hamptons gatherings.

A curated charity auction offered exclusive artwork and luxury experiences in support of the Coral Collective, including pieces by Faith Ringgold, Gabriela Hearst, and Vin + Omi, alongside the Atabey Experience, a six-day conservation journey in the Dominican Republic combining coral restoration, mangrove planting, and ocean exploration. The auction remains open. This year’s celebration was supported by sponsors including Holiday Vodka, Malfy Gin, and Wolffer Estate Vineyard, among others helping fund Project Zero’s continued work to protect the world’s oceans.
