Celebrate Pride Month in Style: Fun and Hip Activities in NYC

June 13, 2023 by Jeremy Lindy in Events

June has arrived, signaling the start of Pride Month—a vibrant, month-long celebration honoring the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you're a New Yorker born and bred or a visitor seeking the pulsating energy of the city, there's no shortage of ways to join in, show your support, and embrace the spirit of Pride. From embracing art to savoring the flavor of specialty cocktails, from experiencing the behind-the-scenes advocacy in the real estate sector to planning a trip to one of the world's most LGBTQIA+-friendly destinations, there are countless opportunities to participate. So, put on your rainbow-colored glasses, step into the rhythm of love and equality, and check out our curated list of fun, trendy, and impactful activities happening in New York City and beyond during this Pride Month.

During Pride Month, don't miss the opportunity to support LGBTQIA+ artists and causes while showing off your unique style. REAL New York, a NYC-based brokerage, is teaming up with four talented LGBTQIA+ artists to release a limited collection of must-have merch. Every purchase will go a long way in supporting the community – 40% goes directly to the artists, fueling their creativity, while the remaining 60% will benefit the LGBT Center in New York City. Real estate giants like Compass and Douglas Elliman are also making waves with their own initiatives supporting LGBTQIA+ causes. Show your pride and support by participating in these campaigns – it's more than just a fashion statement, it's about creating a safer, more inclusive community.

While celebrating Pride, why not indulge your tastebuds as well? Fonda, a dining hotspot helmed by acclaimed Mexican Chef Roberto Santibañez, is partnering with Supergay Vodka to create two specialty cocktails. Every sip of the tantalizing "House of Fonda" and the elegant "Purple Pose" contributes to SAGE, the world's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ elders.

Gin & Tonic from Hotel Eventi's Beverage Director, Jason Hedges

Pride Weekend is right around the corner and The Vine at Kimpton Hotel Eventi is planning on kicking off the celebration this Friday, June 23rd. To start off the weekend strong, the hotel is throwing a Wine Hour from 5:00 - 7:00 PM featuring Drag Queen, Phoebe Jeebies, and DJ jRoc who will be spinning tunes all night long.

Guests can expect delicious wine options and a specialty cocktail by Beverage Director, Jason Hedges, as well as shirts available for purchase with proceeds going toThis event is open to the public, come one, come all!

As part of the exciting run-up to NYC Pride March on June 25th, ROOF at Park South is set to host a thrilling event called "Pride at Park South," taking place on June 23rd from 8 pm to 11 pm. With tickets available on OpenTable at $65 per person, attendees can anticipate a lively evening filled with dancing, drag performances, and an endless flow of drinks. The event, hosted by the charismatic Mila Knockabitch, is sponsored by Absolut, which will have its vibrant Absolut Colors on display. With every ticket, guests also receive a complimentary Absolut cocktail.

While reveling in the party atmosphere, attendees can enjoy a stunning, uninterrupted view of Manhattan’s northeastern skyline. The event is not only about drinks and views; it also offers delectable bites crafted by Michelin-Star and James Beard Award-nominated Chef Bryce Shuman. Options include tempting Brisket Sliders, classic Margherita Pizza, and succulent Shrimp Cocktail. Moreover, guests looking for more drink options can indulge in the expertly crafted cocktails by Beverage Director Ivan Papic, such as the Famous Froze, Bee's Knees, and What She's Having. This is one night you don't want to miss, so mark your calendars and prepare to bask in the festivities under the stars.

Taking your Pride celebrations international? Tenerife, Spain, the largest of the Canary Islands, is hosting Tenerife Pride 2023. A mix of tourism, activism, business, culture, and leisure, Tenerife Pride promises to deliver an unforgettable and meaningful experience. Events include Culture and Business Pride, a world summit that brings together culture, business, and LGBTQ+ rights, and Eurorainbow, the first international festival dedicated to Eurovision and the LGBTQ+ community. And the best part? Americans can take advantage of United Airline’s nonstop flight from New York/Newark to Tenerife, Spain in just under seven hours.

Whether you're exploring local NYC happenings or considering an international adventure, there are endless opportunities to show your support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month. Enjoy the festivities, spread the love, and don't forget to stay on trend!
