The Story Behind Some of the Most Haunted Houses There Is

November 28, 2019 by Jeremy Lindy

The real estate that is up for sale in Donnybrook and anywhere else will likely go to loving households that will treat it as their home until they have to find a new one. The same can probably be said for their previous homeowners, which the real estate agents will vouch for.

However, some houses are not quite as fortunate, and neither are their inhabitants. Below we explore some of the most haunted houses there is around the world.

Winchester Mystery Houses (San Jose, California, USA)

The Winchester Mansion has been spooking people for many decades. It's known for the ghosts that supposedly haunt the premises, but it's more notorious for its labyrinthian halls. Sarah Winchester brought the property to life after she was tasked by her dead husband, William Wirst Winchester of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, to do so.

Channelled by a medium, William Winchester supposedly asked his wife to build a property and never stop renovating it all for his sake and the many victims of their company. The seven-story mansion had no architecture designing it. Hence, the creation of its odd interior, with winding hallways, doors that lead to nowhere, and even windows that overlooked other rooms.

The claustrophobic feeling inside the house is said to contribute to the sensation of hauntedness. Experts have also noted that the weird layout makes it appear eerier than it actually is.

The Morgan House (Kalimpong, West Bengal, India)

Kalimpong is home to a house that was once owned by the British baron George Morgan and his wife. They used the Morgan House as a summer getaway, where many social events were once held. The young couple, with no heir to speak of, met tragedy one day as Lady Morgan died and the baron left the property, never to return.

The reason behind the death of the young woman was never indeed explained. Many believe that she had been harmed and mistreated by her wife before her body gave up on her. Regardless of the reasoning, the Morgan House is said to be haunted by her ghost to this day.

The mystery behind the home has drawn the attention of the public, mainly Indian Celebrities. These days, the Morgan House has become a local attraction, with its walls lined by testimonies of those who visited the premises.

The Sallie House (Atchison, Kansas, USA)

In Atchison lies a modest-looking home that does not look all too different from its neighbours. However, come night-time, it is quite obvious why so many of the locals try to stay away from the property. It was built sometime in the 1900s, and the Sallie House is named after a little girl, Sallie.

This girl was reported to have died under the neglectful watch of a physician who once used the home as his clinic. Sallie died while in pain after the doctor began operating on her even before the anaesthesia took full effect.

It is said that her ghost lingers on the property still, existing to let visitors know of the horror that she went through.

Believer or sceptic, anyone can test the truthfulness of these testimonies by signing up for the tours that these places have to offer. Are you ready to endeavour to find out if ghosts are real?
