This Greenpoint Omakase Serves an 11-Course Tasting Menu for $109, Plus Unlimited Sake

U Omakase, an unassuming Greenpoint spot, has built a following on a simple pitch: serious sushi without the usual omakase sticker shock. The $109 tasting menu runs eleven to thirteen courses, and diners can add on $30 for unlimited house sake, a move that turns a special-occasion dinner into something closer to a regular treat.

The restaurant takes its name, and its layout, from its centerpiece: a U-shaped chef’s counter where Chef-Owner Luis Durand builds each course around what he calls U, a nod to both the guest and the room itself. Beyond the unlimited sake option, diners can opt for a $60 sake pairing or bring their own bottle for a $20 corkage fee, giving the tasting menu more flexibility than most.

The sake and wine list, curated by Brooklyn’s Bin Bin Sake, leans into that same accessibility with glass pours running $7 to $16. Standouts include the Kinoene Hachiwari, a bold, dry junmai built for the Palm King Salmon in plum sauce, and the Joto Daiginjo, an elegant pour with notes of sage and apple that pairs with the lobster with morels and lemon foam.
