Formula One Legend Rubens Barrichello Buys Miami Townhome at Colette Residences
Formula One legend Rubens Barrichello has acquired a $7.95 million townhome at Colette Residences, a boutique five-story luxury condominium developed by META Development in Miami’s South Brickell neighborhood. Located at 1880 Brickell Avenue, Colette comprises just 34 residences, including two penthouses, offering an intentionally low-density alternative to the high-rise towers that dominate much of the city’s skyline. The purchase follows a recent $15 million dual townhome sale at the property and arrives as the project moves toward an anticipated fall groundbreaking.
Barrichello said the decision reflected both a long-term investment strategy and a desire for a residence his family could genuinely enjoy, noting that “where you invest matters just as much as what you invest in.” He was drawn to Colette’s more intimate scale, which pairs the privacy and comfort of a single-family home with the security and services of a boutique building. META Development Founder and CEO Andrew Rasken said Barrichello’s discipline and family-oriented values align closely with the philosophy behind Colette, adding that the purchase reinforces a broader shift among discerning buyers toward privacy and thoughtful design over spectacle. Barrichello, one of the most recognized figures in international motorsport, competed in 322 Grands Prix over 19 consecutive Formula One seasons between 1993 and 2011, earning 11 victories and finishing as championship runner-up in 2002 and 2004.
Designed by Brazilian architecture and design firm OSPA, Colette blends natural materials and warm textures with a strong indoor-outdoor connection, and will offer more than 15,000 square feet of shared indoor and outdoor amenities across its 34 residences, including a 50-foot pool with private cabanas and a wellness spa. The development is slated for completion in 2028. Barrichello’s acquisition adds to a wave of Brazilian buyers choosing Colette for both its investment potential and its residential character in one of Miami’s most established neighborhoods.
