With record heat waves around the world, nothing beats a cool glass of champagne on ice. Whether heading to the beach or enjoying a backyard barbecue, Moët & Chandon’s Ice Imperial and Ice Imperial Rosé, arethe first-ever champagnes specifically designed to be enjoyed over ice. Perfect to cool down with, champagne cocktails easily elevate any summer gathering.
Moët & Chandon first pioneered the ‘champagne on ice’ trend in 2011, launching MoëtIce Imperial (SRP: $59.00) followed by Moët Ice Imperial Rosé which just debuted last summer (SRP: $75.00). Since then, this style of drinking one of the most classic and revered wines has taken off across the category, with brands vying to create their own variations. The growing trend was first noticed amongst vacationers, particularly Margherita Missoni, in the south of France drinking “La Piscine” cocktails – sipping champagne with frozen champagne ice cubes. Creating an array of sips highlighting the wines’ flavor and versatility, notable bartenders from around the U.S. have jumped at the chance to work with Moët Ice; influencer Rocky Barnes, a Moët Ice ambassador, crafted her own specialty cocktail ‘Moët Melon on the Rocks’ made with refreshing mint and watermelon, while noted Olympic figure-skater Adam Rippon channeled the South of France in his lavender ‘Moët Riviera Spritz’. This “champagne on ice” revelation has since made the category more approachable, instead of reserving bubbly for celebratory moments.
The Stayton Room At The Lexington Hotel
The Lexington Hotel, Autograph Collection announced the opening of The Stayton Room, a new bar concept that pays homage to the property’s Jazz Age history with interior design conceptualized by distinguished New York-based design firm Stonehill Taylor. The “Roaring 20’s-esque” space draws inspiration from the glitz and glamour of New York’s bygone eras, modernized for the 21st century.
Featuring an expertly crafted cocktail menu, The Stayton Room also boasts an innovative Bar Fare menu by Chef Richard Sandoval. The bar’s name is a nod to notable anti-prohibitionist William Stayton, who played a key role in bringing about the repeal of the 18th Amendment in 1933.
An à propos food and beverage menu tantalizes guests to further immerse themselves in The Stayton Room experience. The craft cocktail menu builds on classic Prohibition era libations and is carefully designed to stay true to the narrative of the space. Specialty libations such as the Hemingway Daiquiri and the French 75 are notable staples on the menu.
The Stayton Room is open from 4pm to 12am daily. Visitors can enter through The Lexington Hotel’s lobby or The Stayton Room’s private entrance at 140 East 48th Street.
