Off the MRKT Favorites: Must-Have Picks for September 2026

September in New York feels like a fresh start. The city shakes off summer, fall menus are rolling out, and some of the season's most anticipated launches and openings are finally arriving. This month's Off the MRKT Favorites brings together the finds catching our attention—from the return of America's most iconic pumpkin beers and a Ritz-Carlton takeover at Bloomingdale's to creekside dining in the Catskills, a dazzling new look for a classic Champagne, a first taste of Times Square's newest sushi destination, and spritzes that give back. Whether you're easing into autumn in the city or planning a weekend escape upstate, these are the experiences worth adding to your September agenda.

Fall doesn't officially begin until the first pumpkin beer is poured, and no brewery owns the category quite like Elysian Brewing. Long before pumpkin spice became a seasonal obsession, the Seattle brewery debuted Night Owl in 1997—one of the first pumpkin beers ever brewed in the U.S. Nearly three decades and more than 100 pumpkin beers later, Elysian is the country's largest producer of the style and the creator of Great Pumpkin, the world's first Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This season, its fan-favorite Pumpkin Variety Pack is back nationwide in a 12-pack featuring four cans each of three distinct takes: the easy-drinking Night Owl, spiced with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice; Punkuccino, a coffee-kissed pumpkin ale with a shake of cinnamon and nutmeg; and the smooth, deep-copper Great Pumpkin. It's the perfect way to taste your way through the season—and settle the debate over which pumpkin beer reigns supreme.

This fall, one of New York's most iconic department stores is checking in as a luxury hotel. Hotel Bloomingdale's, a new collaboration between The Ritz-Carlton and Bloomingdale's, transforms the retailer's legendary 59th Street flagship into a hotel-inspired shopping destination through October 19. Shoppers can explore curated fashion, beauty, home, and travel finds across five themed areas—The Spa, Room Service, Travel, Souvenirs, and Newsstand—featuring more than 55 brands, including Diptyque, Frette, La Prairie, Assouline, and Gohar World. The experience also marks the first time the Late Checkout: A Ritz-Carlton Story capsule collection is available through a retail partner. After shopping, head to Studio 59, reimagined as a Ritz-Carlton-inspired hotel bar pouring destination-inspired cocktails influenced by celebrated properties like Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. It's a rare chance to experience legendary Ritz-Carlton hospitality without ever booking a room.

For the ultimate escape from screens and city noise, Urban Cowboy is inviting guests to pull on a pair of Muck Boots and step straight into the Esopus Creek. The design-forward boutique hotel brand has debuted its River Dining Experience at Urban Cowboy Lodge & Resort in Big Indian, New York, where a dining table awaits in the flowing waters of the creek, surrounded by the wooded Catskills landscape with the rushing river as the evening's soundtrack. Outfitted with waterproof boots from The Original Muck Boot Company, guests wade in to enjoy artisanal wood-fired pizzas from Chef Auggie Russo's Tiny Pizza Kitchen, paired with The Lodge's award-winning cocktails, beer, and wine. Tapping into the growing "silent travel" movement, it's an elemental, unplugged experience that captures what luxury looks like today. Starting at $195 per person, the River Dining Experience runs Thursday through Sunday through October 11—the perfect excuse for an early fall weekend upstate.

Few things say celebration like a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck, and the House's newest release makes its iconic Cuvée Brut even more of a showstopper. The limited Starlight Edition wraps the bottle in a shimmering sleeve of radiant gold and bold red inspired by disco balls and sequined couture, catching and reflecting light from every angle. Inside, it's the same award-winning Cuvée Brut Champagne lovers know, celebrated for its vibrant fruit character, elegance, and versatility. The ultra-lightweight sleeve is also fully compatible with glass recycling, reflecting the House's commitment to thoughtful innovation. Arriving as Piper-Heidsieck marks 240 years of Champagne-making, the Starlight Edition is available in the U.S. this fall in a 750ml bottle with a suggested retail price of $70.99. Consider it the must-have bottle for fall dinner parties, milestone celebrations, and the holiday season ahead.

The world's top-selling sushi restaurant is coming to New York, and we were lucky enough to get an early taste. Founded in Osaka in 1975, SUSHIRO has built a devoted following across more than 900 locations worldwide on a simple mission: making great sushi accessible to everyone, with a focus on quality, affordability, and creativity. Ahead of its fall opening, the brand previewed its signature nigiri, rolls, ramen, hot dishes, and desserts—and left us counting down to opening day. The three-story U.S. flagship at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street in Times Square will offer a lively kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi experience across 150 seats on its first two floors, while the cellar level will host a Japanese private dining experience with a curated prix fixe menu. With more than 200 menu items spanning sushi, ramen, somen, tempura, chawanmushi, and creative Japanese desserts, SUSHIRO is poised to be one of the season's most talked-about openings.

Spritz season isn't over just yet—and this month, your cocktail order can do some good. Throughout September, Palladino's Steak & Seafood is partnering with Citymeals on Wheels, donating $1 from every spritz sold to help provide nourishing meals and companionship to older New Yorkers. Choose between the floral Violet Spritz ($19), made with crème de violette, butterfly pea flower, Prosecco, and club soda, and the citrus-forward Amalfi Spritz ($19), featuring limoncello, yuzu dry curaçao, lemon, Prosecco, and club soda. Whether you're holding onto the last days of summer or simply looking for an excuse for an afternoon cocktail, it's one of the most delicious ways to give back to the city this season.

As summer gives way to fall, September proves there's plenty to look forward to. Whether you're cracking open a pumpkin beer, toasting with a sparkling bottle of Champagne, wading into a Catskills creek for dinner, or raising a spritz for a good cause, this month's collection is all about embracing the new season in style. We'll be back next month with another curated edit of the people, places, and products shaping luxury living. Until then, enjoy every crisp evening, every fall escape, and every moment that's unmistakably Off the MRKT.
