Jean-Georges Vongerichten Just Bought a Condo in His Own Miami Building
Jean-Georges Vongerichten has a new home, and it happens to be inside the building that bears his name. The Michelin-starred chef has signed a contract for a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom residence at Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences, his first foray into residential real estate, developed by Terra and Lion Development Group at the gateway of the Miami Design District and Midtown. The 3,340-square-foot home comes with a private elevator and terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay and Downtown Miami, and Vongerichten had a hand in designing its kitchen with Yabu Pushelberg, the same studio behind every kitchen in the 49-story tower. Douglas Elliman Development Marketing is handling sales for the building.
The chef is in good company. Argentine polo champion and philanthropist Nacho Figueras and his son Hilario picked up a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath unit listed at $3.116 million, while Alpine Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly closed on a four-bedroom, four-bath sky home priced at $4.9 million. As for Vongerichten, moving in means round-the-clock access to the kind of hospitality he built his career on, including a resident-only restaurant and bar, curated rooftop dining, private catering, poolside menus, and even in-apartment fridge stocking on request. Ground level will house Miami’s first abc kitchens, a mashup of his abcV, abc cocina, and abc kitchen concepts. Designed by Arquitectonica with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, the 338-unit tower also holds more than 80,000 square feet of amenities, including an eighth-floor resort pool, a rooftop pool, a private dining room, and THE WELL Club, a wellness floor with an infrared sauna, cold plunge, and treatment rooms.
The purchase lands amid a residential boom in the Design District, where nearly 1,000 new units are in the pipeline and Michelin-starred restaurants cluster more densely than anywhere else in the city. It is a fitting backdrop for a chef whose name is now on the building. Vongerichten’s Tropic address sits within walking distance of Wynwood, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and a string of bayfront parks, making the case that in this pocket of Miami, culinary star power and real estate value are becoming one and the same.
