What You Need to Carry on Your Next Outdoor Adventure

November 09, 2020 by Jeremy Lindy

We all love an outdoor adventure! Whether you are going camping, hiking, hunting, or fishing, there is no better feeling than getting away from it all and just spending a little time in nature, breathing in the fresh air, or sleeping under the stars. Going on an outdoor adventure is the perfect way to spend quality time with your family and friends, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of nature alone. To have the most tranquil and enjoyable experience while on your outdoor adventure, you must be fully prepared with everything you will need. Preparing everything in advance will ensure that you have the best time and that you are safe from harm and injury on your adventure.

To help everyone who is planning to escape to nature for a little while, here is what you need to carry on your next outdoor adventure.

1. A sturdy, Waterproof Backpack

In this guide, we are going to explain a lot of gear that you need, and to carry it all, the first thing you will need is a sturdy, waterproof backpack. There are many excellent backpack options available on the market, and the most important thing when choosing a backpack is that you check that it is comfortable to wear. Look for a version with adjustable padded shoulder straps and preferably with a strap that goes around your stomach. This will take the burden off your shoulders and back and spread the weight of all your gear evenly.

2. A Quality Bushcraft Knife

Every hiker, camper, and hunter knows that a quality bushcraft knife is a vital piece of equipment for so many reasons. It can be used to cut tent lines, to strip bark for kindling, and skinning animals. The outdoor enthusiasts at expertofequipment.com/best-bushcraft-knives explain that when choosing a knife, you should always look for a model with a thick, durable blade of at least 3mm. Always choose a knife with a handle that has a lot of friction, so you always have a firm grip, and it won’t slip out of your hand even when wet. Many bushcraft knives come with sheaths and sharpeners as a kit, which means you will have everything needed for keeping your knife in good shape.

3. A Spacious Tent

A spacious tent is vital on multi-day outdoor adventures as it will enable everyone in your party to sleep in comfort after a long day of hiking or hunting. It is always better to have a tent that is slightly too big so you can also store all of your gear easily. For example, if there are three people in your party, choose a four or five-person tent to give you that extra storage space. Make sure that the tent you buy is completely waterproof and is easy to put up. This will save you a lot of inconveniences when it comes to pitching your campsite. If you will be carrying your tent as you trek, choose an option which packs down well into an easy to carry case or backpack.

4. A Well-Stocked First-Aid Kit

To enjoy any outdoor adventure, you must take the steps to stay safe and healthy. You will likely be far away from any medical facilities, so you always need to carry with you all of the medical supplies which might be necessary on your trip. This will include waterproof bandages, blister bandaids, prescription medication, allergy drugs, medical tape, and antibiotics. Pack all of these supplies in a watertight tin. Your first-aid kit can be the difference between a minor injury escalating into something much more serious, so careful thought should be given to your supplies.

5. Comfortable Hiking Boots

Nothing ruins a hike or hunting expedition quite like problems with your feet. Painful blisters, twisted ankles, or stubbed toes can all seriously slow you down and put you in major discomfort. Wearing comfortable hiking boots or shoes is essential for traversing difficult terrain with ease and will protect you from injury. New hiking boots can take a little while to break in, so buy them a few weeks in advance of your trip and wear them around town every day so that they fit perfectly when the time comes for your adventure.

There is nothing like spending a few days out in the great outdoors to relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. There are so many useful things which you should carry with you to have the best possible outdoor adventure. Make sure that you plan well in advance so that you are assured you have everything you will need. Follow this guide, and you will be all set to get away from it all in comfort and safety.
