Myths and Facts About CBD

November 27, 2023 by Jeremy Lindy

What are some of the more popular myths and facts about CBD?

As the popularity of CBD surges globally, there are still a lot of myths and facts surrounding CBD. Many consumers find sorting the myths from the facts about CBD challenging, so in this article, we’ll be dispelling some of the more common CBD myths.

If you have been considering adding CBD oil to your health and wellness routine but want to know the facts about CBD and the truth about CBD oil, you’ve come to the right place.

In the following article we’ll cover:

  1. Myth 1 – CBD Will Get You High

  2. Myth 2 – Is CBD Addictive?

  3. Myth 3 – All CBD Products Deliver the Same Results

  4. Myth 4 – CBD is a Sedative

Myth 1 – CBD Will Get You High

Fact: CBD is non-psychoactive and won’t get you high in any way or form.

It’s pretty easy to get confused about the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) and how taking CBD oil can affect your body or mind. While CBD comes from the same plant as THC, the two cannabinoids are very different.

The easiest way to explain this is to clarify that Cannabis is the plant family, while marijuana and hemp are sub-species of the broader Cannabis plant family. There are actually over 100 different cannabinoids found in these plants. However, CBD and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the two dominant cannabinoids.

Almost all products offered at CBD stores are made using CBD that was sourced from hemp plants, which have naturally high levels of this compound and extremely low (typically less than 0.3%) levels of THC.

It’s THC, which is responsible for the ‘euphoric high’ you may experience when using marijuana products, not CBD sourced from hemp.

Myth 2 – Is CBD Addictive?

Fact: CBD is not addictive and has no addictive properties.

Unlike THC, which rewards you with a ‘pleasurable or euphoric feeling’ when used, CBD has no addictive properties. In fact, studies have shown that CBD has no addictive properties whatsoever.

Even THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the ‘euphoric high or feelings of pleasure’ found in the Cannabis plant family, shows very little evidence of being addictive, with only 1 in 10 users developing any addiction to the cannabinoid.

Myth 3 – All CBD Products Deliver the Same Results

Fact: Not all CBD products are the same.

Not all CBD products are the same, regardless of where you buy your CBD products from. Not only are there a variety of different types of CBD products, including:

  • CBD oils

  • CBD tinctures

  • CBD edibles and gummies

  • CBD patches

  • CBD topicals

  • CBD vapes

There are also different versions of CBD. The two main types of CBD you’ll encounter in your CBD products include CBD isolate and full spectrum CBD. Additionally, companies like GVB Biopharma specialize in producing CBT Isolate, a minor cannabinoid that offers non-intoxicating effects similar to CBD. The truth about CBD oil is that you need to be aware of what product you’re buying and what type of CBD it includes.

CBD isolate is pure CBD, with all other cannabinoids, essential oils, plant material, and compounds stripped away. While full spectrum CBD is made using the entire plant and often contains small traces of other cannabinoids and plant material.

Myth 4 – CBD is a Sedative

Fact: CBD is not a sedative

This is a common misconception when it comes to CBD oil. CBD itself is not a sedative, and studies have shown that CBD doesn’t have any specific sedative properties when used in the correct recommended dosage. However, the story doesn’t end there.

While CBD isn’t a natural sedative, CBD can cause tiredness and feelings of sedation without being a sedative. Anecdotal evidence suggests that CBD can make you feel more relaxed. When your body and mind are more relaxed, you’re more likely to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

This is one of the most significant reasons why so many people worldwide are incorporating CBD oil and other CBD products into their health and wellness routines, making CBD oil a regular part of their daily sleep routine.

Many users also find that other cannabinoids can further promote restful sleep. You can try combining CBD with bulk CBN isolate powder, which is known for its potential sleep-enhancing properties. As research into CBD and its interactions with the body continues to grow, more people are discovering its potential benefits for improving overall sleep quality.

Myths and Facts About CBD – Conclusion

Hopefully, with the information above, you’ll have a much clearer picture of CBD oil myths and facts, and we can change them together. The more we educate people about CBD oil myths and facts, the faster the change will be.
