How To Get Dog Or Cat Pee Out Of A Mattress

February 27, 2023 by Jeremy Lindy

If you’re a pet owner, you know the dreaded feeling of coming home to find that your dog or cat has had an accident on the mattress. It’s an unfortunate reality of being a pet parent, and it can often be one of the most difficult messes to clean. But fear not! We are here to provide you with some useful tips on how you can get rid of those pesky pet pee stains from your mattress.

From using natural ingredients to more intensive cleaning solutions, we will cover it all so that you can have your mattress looking good as new in no time.

Blot The Area With A Clean Cloth

If you've found pet urine on your mattress, it's important to clean it up as soon as possible. You can blot the area with a clean cloth. This will help to soak up some of the urine and remove any lingering odors. Once you've blotted the area, you'll need to rinse it with warm water. Be sure to not use too much water, as this can cause the urine to spread and make the stain worse. Once you've rinsed the area, blot it again with a clean cloth to remove any excess moisture.

Finally, you'll need to treat the area with a pet odor neutralizer or an enzyme-based cleaner. These products will help to break down the urine and remove any lingering odors. Let the cleaner sit for at least 15 minutes before blotting it up with a clean cloth. After cleaning the area and removing any odors, you may want to consider using a mattress protector to help keep your mattress clean and fresh.

To help prevent future accidents and keep your pets happy, consider investing in indoor cat trees to enrich your pet’s environment and provide them with stimulating spaces to play and relax.

Pour Vinegar Over The Stain

If you've ever had a pet that's had an accident on your mattress, you know how difficult it can be to get the stain and smell out. There are a few things you can do to remove the stain and odor. One option is to pour vinegar over the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. You can then blot the area with a towel and let it air dry.

Canines use scent to communicate and explore their world, which often leads to behaviors that may seem odd to us. If you've ever wondered why do dogs roll in poop, it's because they're following an instinctual behavior to mask their own scent, a trait inherited from their wild ancestors to help them blend in with their environment. This scent-masking technique allowed them to avoid predators or sneak up on prey. While this habit can be a bit unpleasant for pet owners, understanding it sheds light on dogs' natural behaviors and instincts.

This method is not recommended for mattresses made of memory foam or gel memory foam as the vinegar may damage the material. If you are unsure of what type of mattress you have, it is a good idea to test a small area first before using this method.

Sprinkle Baking Soda An The Stain

Baking soda is one effective way of cleaning pee stains from the mattress, If your pet has an accident on your mattress, it's important to clean it up quickly to prevent any permanent damage. One way to do this is to sprinkle baking soda on the stain and then blot it with a damp cloth.

The baking soda will help to absorb the urine and neutralize any odors. Once the area is dry, you can vacuum it up and your mattress should be clean again. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer, so it can help to remove any lingering odors. You should also use a vacuum cleaner to suck up any excess baking soda and dirt.

Vacuum Up The Baking Soda

Once you have removed as much of the dog or cat pee as possible from the mattress, it's time to vacuum up the remaining baking soda. Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and will help to neutralize the smell of pet urine. Be sure to vacuum the entire mattress, paying special attention to any areas where there is still a strong odor.

It's important to make sure that you have removed as much of the baking soda as possible. If any of it is left behind, it could attract moisture, which could cause mold and mildew to grow on your mattress. Vacuuming up the baking soda thoroughly will help prevent this from happening. Once you have vacuumed all the baking soda, you can use a wet/dry vacuum to remove any remaining moisture. This will help ensure that the mattress is completely dry and odor-free.

Conclusion

In conclusion, getting pet urine out of a mattress is an unpleasant task but one that can be accomplished with the right supplies and techniques. Using enzymatic cleaner, some water, and a little bit of elbow grease will help to get rid of any lingering odors or stains caused by your pet’s accident. With these tips in mind, you should have no trouble successfully tackling this problem.

Remember to always spot test any cleaning solutions you use on your mattress first. This will help to ensure that the product does not cause any damage to the material. Additionally, it is important to act quickly when cleaning up pet urine from a mattress. The longer it sits, the harder it will be to remove and the more likely it will be to create a lingering odor.
