4 Well Known Diets You Should Be Aware of This Year

September 26, 2022 by Jeremy Lindy

Is losing weight, getting healthier, or eating better eating away at your mind this year? If this is the case, rest assured that you are not alone! According to studies, almost two-thirds of British citizens are on diets ‘most of the time’ with no shortage of choices. Nowadays, there is a whole host of diets to choose from, but the trick is knowing which one will help you achieve and maintain your desired results. Maybe you’ll try paleo or keto? Or you might opt for full-on veganism or a shake diet.

Whatever your choice, it’s essential that it’s achievable and that you remember that what works for others might not necessarily work for you. Ultimately, dieting isn’t for everyone, but if you want to give it a go, you should know that some are easier to succeed at than others, not to mention much healthier!

However, since each one claims to be better than the other, choosing one to give a go can be challenging. Therefore, we’ve created this article explaining several of the most well-known diets you should be aware of this year – continue reading to find out more.

Shake Diet

On a shake diet plan, also referred to as a meal replacement diet, you typically replace two of your three meals daily with a protein shake to lose weight, eat better, or get healthier. Once you’ve had your two shakes, some people will enjoy a light dinner which adds up to around six hundred calories in total, and may enjoy two-three one-hundred calorie snacks daily.

Depending on the brand of weight loss shakes you purchase, they are typically designed to be mixed with skimmed milk or a milk alternative like soya and contain various vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and protein. Many people opt for a shake diet plan instead of others since they are convenient as they can be taken on the go and reduce the need for meal planning or counting calories.

If you’d like to learn more about a shake diet, consider visiting the website of providers such as Shake That Weight, which produce a wide range of high protein shakes, meal replacement bars, ready meals, and many more weight-loss products. Visit their website to browse their complete catalogue of weight loss shakes and other products and see how they could help your health goals today.

The Vegan Diet

Arguably one of the most well-known diets on this list, those who practise the vegan diet abstain from consuming and using animal products. Typically, vegans get their nutrients from consuming a balanced, varied diet, including supplements and fortified foods, which predominantly consist of vegetables, grains, nuts, fruit, and foods made from plants.

Like the Paleo diet, swapping your diet for a vegan one can boast a variety of health-boosting properties. Most notably, it can improve heart health and blood sugar levels and even help individuals lose weight if that is their primary goal. However, despite the benefits switching to a vegan lifestyle can have on a person and the applaudable ethical and environmental reasonings behind the diet – the lifestyle has come under criticism since practising it can increase your risk of nutrient deficiencies.

The Paleo Diet

Also referred to as the Paleolithic diet, caveman diet, or stone-age diet, the Paleo diet typically involves eating a diet of lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fish – intending to imitate the diet of those that lived during the Paleolithic era.

Having been made famous through social media and public figures like Miley Cyrus, Uma Thurman, and Matthew McConaughey, the diet has attracted a lot of public and media attention because the Western diet has been linked to various diseases such as metabolic diseases, neurodegeneration, cancer, and atherosclerosis.

While this diet has been heavily criticised for how accurately it depicts the diet of our Palaeolithic ancestors, studies have suggested that those who practise the diet have reaped significant health benefits such as lower blood pressure, improved cholesterol balance, weight management, improved satiety, and much more.

The Atkins Diet

Developed in the 1960s by heart specialist Robert C. Atkins, The Atkins Diet is perhaps one of the most well-known low-carb weight loss diets. It claims that restricting carbohydrates is essential for losing weight and instead focuses on consuming as much protein and fat as the individual wishes.

Like the shake diet, The Atkins Diet is favoured by individuals as it eliminates the need to count calories, yet much more effort must go into meal planning since it has stricter rules to adhere to. When the diet started gaining popularity, it was considered unhealthy due to its high saturated fat content; as a result of this, the overall health benefits of The Atkins Diet are still speculated by health professionals to this day.
