Drink Your Way Around New York: 5 of the Best Wine Bars in NYC

August 12, 2019 by Jeremy Lindy in Bars & Restaurants

What's more refreshing than a chilled glass of white wine on a hot day in New York City?

You could pop over to your regular neighborhood spot for a basic glass of pinot grigio. But why not try a new wine bar that can pour you something a little more complex?

From the Upper East Side to Brooklyn, there are so many amazing bars and restaurants to discover. Don't just wander into the next place you stumble upon. Instead, check out one of our 5 picks for the best wine bars in NYC.

1. City Vineyard

Overlooking the Hudson river is City Vineyard, a rooftop wine bar. If you want to enjoy a great view but don't want to spend too much, this place is a great option.

City Vineyard is casual and welcoming, so there's no reason to fear any wine snobs here. They're only open from April until the air gets chilly in October. Check out one of their Monday movie nights before they close for the year!

2. June

Natural wine is a big trend in the vino world right now. If you're curious about what all the fuss is about, check out June in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

They specialize in natural wines and have an impressive selection. Hit up their happy hour Monday through Friday to get a taste on the cheap.

3. Rose Mansion

If you love to rose all day, you have to check out Rose Mansion at the Manhattan Mall. The mansion is an immersive experience where you can learn everything you've ever wanted to know about the pink drink.

Each of the 14 rooms is an Instagrammers dream, and you're encouraged to take pictures.

The tour ends with a trip to their rose wine bar. There you can eat tacos and try some of the 120 different roses from around the world. Bring home a few bottles to fill up your under counter wine fridge.

4. Rooftop Reds

Rooftop Reds is a wine bar where you can sit amongst the vineyard vines. Yes, this wine bar actually grows their own grapes right on their roof!

They also have classic vineyard activities like cornhole and hammocks for lounging. For a second you might forget you're in Brooklyn and not Napa, California.

Keep this spot in mind for your next birthday. They even allow you to bring your own food in, so this makes for a fun and inexpensive place to hang.

5. The Four Horsemen

Owned by musician James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, The Four Horsemen is an NYC staple. This wine bar is quaint and quirky, perfect for a laid back date night.

The staff here really know their stuff. Let them guide you through their natural wine list if you're not sure what to get.

These Are the 5 Best Wine Bars in NYC

This weekend, enjoy a classy night out with some good conversation and a glass (or two!) of vino. These are the 5 best wine bars in NYC, so no matter which one you venture to, you're sure to have a great experience.
