Bryant Park's 9/11 Tribute + Concert for 25th Anniversary

  • Bryant Park 1065 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10018 United States (map)

Bryant Park and Bank of America commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a day of remembrance in the park.

Beginning at 8AM, the public is invited to stop by Bryant Park to write a note of remembrance and lay a carnation provided by Bank of America on one of the 2,753 park chairs displayed across the lawn, where each vacant seat represents a life lost at the World Trade Center. Open to the public from 8AM-4PM. For the first 3,000 carnations left by the public, Bank of America will donate $25 per carnation to be distributed between the New York City Police Foundation, FDNY Foundation, and Port Authority PBA Widows’ and Children’s Fund.

That evening, from 7PM-8:15PM, the American Symphony Orchestra will bring a moving evening of classical and contemporary orchestral music to Bryant Park Picnic Performances, presenting a free memorial concert on the lawn. Hosted by Tony Award-nominated and Grammy Award-winning actor Jenn Colella, with additional remarks from the FDNY Foundation, the program features works by Aaron Copland, Gustav Mahler, and George Walker honoring the resilience of ordinary Americans and the courage and sacrifice of the heroes of 9/11.

The free performance requires no tickets - audiences can simply bring a blanket and settle in on the Bryant Park lawn.
