Little Amal Walks NYC

Event Description: Join Little Amal - a 12-foot tall puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child - at the 55 events of welcome that make up her 17-day journey through all 5 boroughs, Sept. 14-Oct. 2. One of the largest public art festivals in NYC history, created in collaboration with the city’s artistic community, civic leaders and government agencies, Little Amal Walks NYC is a celebration of our shared humanity. Amal will be welcomed by artists including Elizabeth Streb; Cetiliztli Nauchcampa; Swoon, Classical Theater of Harlem; cultural institutions such as BAM, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, The National Black Theatre, St. Ann’s Warehouse; and community based organizations like Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, Mujeres en Movimiento, The Laundromat Project, Materials for the Arts; and she will travel to JFK, Times Square, Highbridge, Grand Central Terminal, among many other NYC landmarks. Little Amal was designed and created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company (War Horse).
