From the streets of Rio to the heart of Midtown, City of God is coming to Bryant Park’s big screen. On Monday, August 17, Paramount+ Movie Nights at Bryant Park will screen the acclaimed, award-winning Brazilian crime drama.

Set in Rio de Janeiro and following two young men whose lives take very different paths amid the city’s growing gang culture, City of God became one of the most celebrated international films of its era—and earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Film Editing and Cinematography. It also took home the BAFTA for Film Editing.

Movie Nights take place every Monday through September 14, with films beginning at 8:00 p.m. The lawn opens for picnicking at 5:00 p.m., Hester Street Fair vendors will be on-site from 4:00–8:30 p.m., and Stout NYC’s outdoor bar will be serving beer, wine, and seasonal cocktails beginning at 5:00 p.m.
