No need to venture across the Atlantic to experience Italian drinking culture: New Yorkers will be at the coolest new happy hour right inside The Mondrian this Friday, September 28th from 5:30PM – 8:30PM for the launch of Caffe Torino, an aperitivo hour featuring their new cocktail, the Martini & Rossi Nassau Negroni.
Caffe Torino at The Mondrian emblemizes the relaxed drinking style of pre-war Italy; a world once lost now finding new life in modern iterations of the classic Italian aperitivo hour, for which the original Caffe Torino was so well known.
In Good Company bartender Will Benedetto will be showing off his new creation, which features Martini & Rossi’s recently debuted line of Riserva Speciale Bitter. The ingredients of the elevated Nassau Negroni—including Bacardi 4 Year Aged Rum, Marsala-infused Martini & Rosso Vermouth, and a torched pineapple wedge garnish—highlight the aromatic herbal and floral notes of the bitters, creating a new twist on the classic Negroni.
A second Caffe Torino aperitivo hour will be happening at the Mondrian on October 12th for those who can’t make it this week.

NASSAU NEGRONI RECIPE
1.25 oz of Bacardi 4 year
.75 oz of Martini Riserva Speciale Bitter
.75 Marsala Infused Martini Rosso Vermouth
Stir ingredients together and serve in a rocks glass on the rocks.
Garnish with a pineapple wedge torched to order.

Don't feel like going out, or want to host a viewing party yourself, make your guests feel like they're at the event by making the cocktail yourself.
- 1 1/4 parts Grey Goose Vodka
- Fresh squeezed lemonade
- 1/2 part Chambord or premium raspberry liqueur
- Crushed ice
- Honeydew melon balls
Chill Collins Glass by placing in refrigerator/ freezer or by filling with ice water for 5 minutes. Remove Collins Glass from refrigerator/freezer, and fill with ice. Measure and add vodka to Collins Glass. Top with measured amount of fresh lemonade. Measure and add raspberry liqueur. Garnish with skewer of 1 or multiple frozen honeydew melon balls (note: place honeydew melon in freezer beforehand, then, to create melon balls, use melon baller).

For those of you want to celebrate the holiday but stay in the comforts of your home below is a list of cocktails for you to make and everything you need to have celebrated the holiday without dealing with people from the outside world. Not a fan of tequila? Don't worry we've included options for even the pickiest of drinkers.
Celebración Punch Created by Milagro Tequila Ambassador, Jaime Salas
- Milagro Silver, 6 Parts
- Guava Nectar (pink), 12 Parts
- Ginger Simple Syrup, 2 Parts
- Lime Juice, 3 Parts
Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl and mix. Top with Club Soda or Prosecco. Garnish with Lime Wheels and White Edible Flowers
New Amsterdam Tropical Spiced Mule
- 1.5 oz. New Amsterdam Vodka
- .5 oz. Cinnamon Whiskey
- 1 oz. Pineapple Juice
- Top w/ Ginger Beer
Pour into an ice filled steel thermos or mule mug and stir together to combine/chill
For the beer lover you can drink the Stella Artois Cidre Sangria Punch created by Omar Flores, Casa Rubio (Dallas, TX), Serves 8 people.
- 1 honey crisp apple – cored and sliced thin
- 1 cup white grapes cut in half
- 1 cup white grape juice
- 1 lemon cut into wheels
- 3 orange peels
- 1 dash vanilla extract
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 cup apple sauce or non-alcoholic apple cider
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 3 sprigs of mint
- 4 12-ounce bottles Stella Artois Cidre
In a large punch bowl add apples, grapes, grape juice, lemons, orange peel, cinnamon, vanilla, apple cider and sugar. Mix thoroughly and allow to macerate for 30-45 minutes. To finish the punch, add cold Stella Artois Cidre, ice and mint. Serve immediately.
Avión Blood Orange Margarita
- 1.5 oz. Avión Silver
- .75 oz. fresh blood orange juice
- .5 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
- .75 oz. agave nectar
In a cocktail shaker add all ingredients with ice. Shake and strain. Serve over fresh ice and garnish with an orange twist.

3-4 medium-large heirloom tomatoes, chopped/diced to 1/4″
½ medium onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 small bunch of cilantro, chopped
1 jalapeño, seeded and chopped
1-2 limes, juiced
Salt to taste
Optional ingredients: Mango, avocado, tomatillos, sweet corn, black beans
1. Prepare the tomatoes, onion, garlic, cilantro and jalapeño. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and stir well. Juice the limes and add salt to taste. Consider adding other optional ingredients or prepare a second version using mango as a base. Can prepare up to an hour ahead.

Strings of light cover the expansive space above the rooftop and patches of greenery line the brick walls, giving off a feeling of an Italian garden. Tapas and cocktails are their specialty.

Just south of Hell’s Kitchen is Gallow Green, a lusciously memorizing space atop Chelsea’s McKittrick Hotel. The greenery is lined with twinkling lights and the herbs they grow are used in dishes from the meals. Refinery Rooftop is located atop Refinery Hotel which used to be an industry factory. The restaurant is divided in by brick arches, where one side is an indoor, wood roof while the other has glass walls and a glass sunroof that can open or close, depending on the occasion. The rooftop also has a lounge, completely under open skies and stringed lights that stretch across. Refinery Rooftop offers brunch, lunch and dinner, and a selection of their signature cocktails.

- 0.75 oz. Campari
- 2 oz. Bulldog Gin
- 0.75 oz. Cinzano 1757
- 2 oz. Lemon Juice
- 1.25 oz. Simple Syrup
- 2 whole Strawberries
- Blend all ingredients (making sure tops of strawberries are cut off) with 1.5 cups of ice until smooth and pour into a tall glass. Garnish with a strawberry and orange twist.

Eco-Conscious Wine Maker Pairings (April 22)
Chef Vincent Chirico of West Village's Coarse supports sustainable agriculture in every aspect - from the produce he buys to the wine he selects. His eight to ten course, $79 spontaneous food and beverage tasting is all dependent on what he has in stock that day in order to eliminate food waste. With the meal, six to nine different beverage pairings are picked and poured by the chef himself, choosing only sustainable wines. On Earth Day he'll be highlighting California winemaker Preston Parker Wines for the beverage portion of the meal, a small production winery that only sources their grapes from sustainable vineyards.
Wines are served alongside the chef's signature dishes like king oyster mushrooms atop potato puree, crispy sunchoke, a soft egg and white truffle or the king crab leg with chili, brown butter and microcelery.
Chef's No-Waste Tasting Menu (April 23)
This eco-conscious chef is going off the menu. Chef Roxanne Spruance of Kingsley (rated Top Newcomer 2017 by Zagat and named to this year's Crain's 40 Under 40) recently started Walk-In Sunday Dinners to eliminate food waste and use whatever is in her walk-in refrigerator to whip up experimental, three-course meals. In honor of Earth Day, watch her get creative with what's in season, like fresh pasta and risottos loaded with produce she's found at the market over the weekend or main dishes using parts of the animals she's butchered herself! The three course meal ($49) consists of two choices of a seasonal salad or soup, pasta or meat main, and desserts like housemade ginger sorbet with seasonal fruit. Oh yeah, and the entire restaurant is landfill-free.
BurgerFi April 22
On April 22 from open to close, participating BurgerFi locations nationwide are encouraging guests to “Go Green.” Withany burger purchase made that day, guests will receive a free“plantable burger” coaster (see image attached) they can plant at home to grow their own lettuce. BurgerFi’s signature green-style burgers use fresh, crisp, hand-cut lettuce instead of a traditional bun.
Additionally, guests who receive a “plantable burger” can enter for a chance to win a $100 BurgerFi gift card by simply uploading a photo of themselves planting their “burger” on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #growitforward tagging @burgerfi.
Up for a drink in honor of Earth Day 1 Hotel Central Park will unveil a cocktail for a cause! Available at the hotel’s signature restaurant Jams helmed by Jonathan Waxman, ”Don’t Believe the Florist” is a libation you can feel good about drinking. Available on Earth Day (4/22) and throughout the spring, $1 from every drink purchased will be donated to New York Restoration Project.
In addition to the cocktail served at Jams, 1 Hotel Central Park will begin offering guests the opportunity to volunteer with Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project starting this April to keep Manhattan’s parks and community gardens beautiful. The hotel’s concierge team will help guests sign up for 1 Good Day events, which include garden grooming activities, ranging from tree watering, composting and pulling weeds. As a thank you for their service to the NYC community, 1 Hotel Central Park will provide guests with a Lyft credit for rides to and from the garden and two complimentary specialty cocktails at Jonathan Waxman’s Jams following their good deed.
